On the right hand side we have lamine yamal to hold the width. Even if we forget his technical ability, his job is to hold that width and so is balde's job to hold width on left. Yesterday we had ig olmo on left hand side or even gavi they are playing the raphinha position but, on the right side you are causing a "not as fast as balde" "fullback" (who is actually a centre back) to cover the flank with raphinha taking up right half spaces. They need a person to hold width on the right side when kounde is playing or else kounde who is a natural defender has to cover a flank which he cannot do.

Spot on bro. I think because of Lamine Yamal on the wing helps kounde to go up as lamine drags the opposite 2/3 players. But in Lamine' s absence kounde is being isolated as Raphinha goes more advanced. And also when Lamine plays the whole game sets a bit right sided gives the left back to explode on the wing. For me those matches where barca didn't play well was because of lamine Yamal absence or the absence of the player who plays to have width.

Seems like Flick just can't fix the defense so far. Attack is also lacking without Lamine but I don't think that will be a problem in the future. Flick just has to fix our defense and our press as well. The press has been really really bad lately, it wasn't good at the start of the season but it was at least better than right now. We have good defenders starting and on the bench, there should be no excuse. Madrid have much worse defense depth but they've been actually much better in defense than us

Thanks for a measured approach to our recent slump. I've seen a lot of creators and comments targeting Frenkie; saying he's the main reason we've dropped off in the last few games.... conveniently ignoring the many points you brought up. Hopefully, Flick helps the squad shake off the complacency, and squad players develop to the point where there isn't a significant drop-off in quality, intensity, and results when we do rotate or is missing a key player(s).
