Amazing Lectures, thanks to Neso Academy and compassionate people in the field I want to add more on Addressing : due to the fact that it's a connectionless service IP address is retrieved by DNS server, so that before making it to a router browser asks for the IP address via DNS server corresponding to the domain name.

But i have a question: How do routers/intermediary devices know whom to send packets that will lead to destination??? Which algorithm is used???
@sabitkondakc9147
@sabitkondakc9147 3 жыл бұрын
@@abhishekmaurya9503 it's a really long story, I can't explain it from scratch but I may give you a pinch of it to make things a bit more clear. Your PC -> ISP -> Intermediary Devices -> Destination Server things get a lot complex in intermediary devices, protocols being used in between; QUIC(google invention alternative to TCP), UDP, FTP, SSL, TLS exc. the info passing through intermediary devices have a header and tail part, they are used for routing, there are bunch of algorithms being used for that , they simply guess where the info moves next according to header + IP + bandwidth + congestion other factors, it's a track between your public IP and the IP of website you request an answer. IP with subnet mask speaks for itself, frames can be routed according to subnet masks it's one part of whole story. Algorithm checks header+IP with subnet mask + exc. decides where to jump next. Think it as a graph data structure with nodes attained by specific IPs , it has a location protocol where a machine may guess last destination just by looking numbers I mentioned above. I hope this made it a bit more clear for you, take care of yourself.

Bro just for the sake of clarification, process does not operate on a specific port, maybe protocol that is used by process usually operates on some specific port. If you start a process and process uses let's say tcp socket on some port let's say 4000 it doesn't mean that process assigned port 4000, it means that process uses socket that operates through port 4000 and you create a lot of sockets with different ports but that wouldn't mean that port is assigned to the process. Great explanation thanks for info😊

Something that still confuses me is, how does Router 1 figure out that sending it down T/99 is the correct path, and not send it through X/44? Does it ask all the routers around it or something? What happens when there are more routers along the way than that, does it just tell them to pass the question down until an answer is gotten? How does that work?
@AmiraUlmasova
@AmiraUlmasova Жыл бұрын
Router has Routing table that holds several entries and it starts looking the destination IP address from there. If there is no match, it sends packet to configured 0.0.0.0 router that is usually ISP router to figure out from there. If there is matching entry than router changes packet destination MAC address to the MAC address of the next hop router and sends it, if there are several matchings than in its Routing table router has specific field called Metric that represents the amount of hops till destination host and chooses the best route from there. There are much more to consider but this is simplified overall of the process

Thanks for the video, why does each router have two IP and MAC addresses? Did you assume that it uses two different ports (LAN and Wireless for example) so each port has its own MAC address? if this is the case, does each port has its own IP address as well?
@paranjay4776
