Great video - A big congratulations to the other famous Cape George 36 owner Kirsten, for her fantastic multi record setting win of the GGR! Not that you would sell her, after all the love your putting into Magic Carpet 2 - but your value on her just went up quite a bit I bet.....Cant wait to follow you two sailing around the world as slowly as possible -(The direct opposite of Kirsten's Trip!)

Kirsten won the GGR race and was able to rescue Tapio after his boat sank. She set several records and is an amazing lady. Watching her drift across the finish with all the different people in different boats was so cool. She spent the night in her boat. Sounds like she is going to be selling Minnehaha. That is sad, she is going to be for the right person to get it. She speaks several different languages and is so humble. Couldn't ask for a better person to win. Between Azores and France she was hitting some high speeds in her cape George 36. Magic carpet 2 is a great boat based on what was just done. Your interview with her was great.

Maya, your paint job was spectacular. Having used this 2 part product, the environment certainly plays a huge part in the finish product. Can't thank Ken enough for his time and effort with Aladino's corner posts. As you both must know, Kristen sailed her Cape George to an epic win in the GGR, which shows not only is the design seaworthy, yet a fast displacement full bodied craft. Aladino, your an unusually competent wood craftsman genius, everything you touch turns to gold, love the replacement of the balsa core in the galley and anticipate perfection as you redesign and build to suite Maya's taste. Thank you both, so beautiful a project to date and hope to be there for the launching of Magic Carpet 2 this spring.

To watch and listen to Aladino commentary, he looks more relaxed and natural not seated in front of camera. I do indeed enjoy the commentary, and plans how to move forward. My father was a custom home builder. I gained a lot of knowledge from him,and understand the frustration of ripping into something only to discover how much more needs to happen before the forward momentum starts. But starting on a clean slate is so much better than trying to fit into existing perimeters. Love it good job.

Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. My father and grandfather had well made teak skylights like yours. They could never stop leaks in any sea. They had to have canvas covers. I think your sailing tender is a lovelly job. They and I always had solid tenders, pre marina days, clinker and for last 33 years fiberglass. One must have a D raparound fender. Before the war they used the tender,in calm, to tow with oars. They had a tender on a long painter run down by a fishing boat at anchor, at night.

I also use a track saw inplace of a table saw, because it is more flexible, cheaper and requires less space. It takes more time and the accuracy is a bit less as with a good table saw especially with series. If you need a very high accuracy you can make your cuts a few millimeters wider and use a sanding machine.

I want to emphasis that this is not sarcasm. You are doing a great job and something that most of us is not able to do. At the same time you are doing many people a favour by showing what it takes to actually refit a boat. Many think that it is easy to buy a bargain boat and repair it. And if you're handy most of the steps might not be that hard to figure out. Everybody does not need the same perfect finish as Aledino. But in reality for the most of us who have not found a way to make a living out of repairing our own boat we need to calculate time (most of us forget this). You have sobered me many times when I have found a bargain on the net that I would never have time to finish. I will end my comment with a timesavers hint. Keep at it! The boat will get finished! But try the IKEA approach "what is good enough?". Every detail does not need to be perfectly beautiful but rather good enough for the job. You can buy the most beautiful and expensive sofa but it will be just as good for the job as the one that you get from IKEA for half the price. Try the same attitude on your project. The piece you are making should perform a task. Imagine what the piece would look like after a week of use. That is the target. A week old boat is considered new by spectators but the things you use already have some wear. ;-) Thank you for holding on and not taking a dayjob!

Bit late for this one, but it was wonderful as usual! It’s so cool seeing the boat come back together after it was originally taken apart. I remember the episode where y’all had to rip up the galley and destroy the one still-intact area of the boat to fix it. Now, slowly, it’s all coming back together and closing up again. Great to see the boat getting back to it (and thanks to you surpassing) it’s original glory. Can’t wait for the next one! Fair winds, -J (P.S: The other commenters have informed me that Apparently a CG 36 won the GGR. And that it was the woman you interviewed a few months ago. So that’s pretty neat!)

I keep replaing Aladino's explanation on the bronze cockpit drains in last week's episode where he described the purpose of the balls was 'if the boat is upside down, it stops water draining into the boat'. Maya commented 'hmm' without time to fully comprehend what he said. Oh, the subtlety and dry humour. Love it. I chuckle audbly each time I revisit the quip in my mind. Am really enjoying the refit-done-right. Superb effort..! Grant - South Australia.
