The way I see it, once the podcast gained success they probably decided they could make even more money since they wouldn't have to do anywhere near the of amount editing required for up-to-speed, and could honestly just use less resources to make automotive history content since the most demanding part would only be research at that point which sucks for people like us who loved it. Personally my favorite content from Dount is Up-To-Speed, and my belief that they phased it out in favor of the podcast led me to not even bother with it. Ok, Donut gang… I just did a deep dive and uncovered clues to what happened to James… By the look of things, James is no longer with Donut. The last show he did was Past Gas #239 which aired on May 27th. His last Big Three episode was #10 which aired on May 8th. The next two episodes of the Big Three clued you in, that he was still with company #11 & #12. Which both aired before Past Gas episode #239. Episode #13 of the Big Three which aired on June 5th, is when everything changed. The Big Three had a mural on the wall featuring the faces of James Nolan and Joe. Episode #13 removed the mural and replaced it with a big cheesy sign; “The Big Three”. This episode was hiding in plain sight, revealing that James had been let go, unknowing to us all. Donut had a good run, but erasing pillars of your company from in front of our face without using that blinking light mind eraser from Men in Black is nothing short of bush league, to put it lightly.

@beefy452 ай бұрын
Everyone asking about James need to realize any announcement regarding him is up to James himself. It’s not these 3 place to speak on his situation. James will let us know when he is ready. B2B ran its course all things must come to an end. Also the shop dog is the best 4th member ever

If we wanted TopGear… we’d watch The Grand Tour (or Throttle House) We want HiLo / B2B / up to speed / money pit

We weren't complaining when you did the "low" effort; craigslist, offer up, marketplace car challenge videos. IMO the difference as compared to "react to TikTok" videos is one is a car guys idea. The other is a suits idea. We fellow car guys notice that. Also, high low and money pit videos changed. There more dick jokes less actual car show like they use to be.

I started watching donut maybe a year or 2 ago. I think it's great. I will continue to support the channel and also big time. Real mechanic stuff is fantastic. Some viewers think they know whats really going on, they think they are "smarter " than the rest of us. Just enjoy the channel and be happy that big time gives us that much more cars /motorsports KZbin content to view.

25:36 oh Nolan, we definitely trust the creators , on and off screen. Most of us are just worried about the *money,* the bag, the hands giving the thumbs for how y’all move.

One video that I (and possibly many people) want to see is the race between Angelina and Sandro. Please make that happen.

I'm not buying this response at all. It seems like a forced and semi scripted response by the new owners. I'm betting the only reason Jerry and Zach are still around is because they had to be paid to stay affiliated with the channel, to try and save what's left of it. They are pretty much the heart of the content, and James is the face of it all. Your new corporate bosses only care about money, not good content. Proof of that is with all the gambling ads.

But you haven't changed for the better according to the fans, its like damn are you really listening? Because we don't want this dead feeling content. Im glad that it makes you feel better but fans aren't sticking around for this new BS. You are looking for a whole new audience it seems.

I don't understand why people are trying to make drama. Donut is a business. The goal is to produce content people tune in for and pay bills. Things change and people change. Life goes on. They've been nothing but honest, positive, and goal oriented in their pursuits. Why do people require drama when there is none? Life goes on folks. It's better to focus on what's ahead and best for everyone.

Let us see, Justin Freeman is meh, he is as entertaining as that guy Top Gear used to have at the very beginning that had the segment of used car prices, he was there for about 4 shows, disappeared unceremoniously and no one ever remembered him. The guy in the middle... who the hell knows who he is, the gofor, the dog walker by the looks of it. And then Nolan, the high and mighty, sits on the single chair to signify his dominance and his "stature." And none mentioned James, who basically was the entire show. I used to stomach Nolan just to see James, and I often wondered what would someone as genuine as James seems to be would see in Nolan to have him in such high regard. Nolan says "I feel it is a little unfair that our fans critique us based on past failures" or something to that effect. So that should tell you enough about Nolan and how petulant he really is. A non-tone deft comment, especially when talking about their fans should be... "I know we have made some mediocre content in the past, we heard you loud and clear and we have moved mountains to change that. We hope you like our new stuff and give us another chance." But of course that can never come from the petulant ass with a very punchable face that rolled on the floor laughing at a woman who was crying because some hooligans vandalized her KIA Soul using the USB hack. He made fun of her for being so sentimental about such an insignificant car... of course, ignoring that someone who even named her car has a deep attachment to it... for whatever reason. That confirmed to me that he really has no regard for the public that pay the bills, and this whatever the hell it is, confirmed it once again. Jerry, Zach, and James were the best Donut had going for itself. And this comes from someone who has 10 Donut Underground stickers on my BMW, which by the way always arrived late, always with an excuse, and we had to fill out a Google form every month to get our stickers. Maybe Donut will have big bucks to spend them on crazy builds. I mean, the high low series was already a pretty expensive one. But it will lack the original feeling of old, and with Nolan apparently taking the helm... no thanks, bye.

This comment sums it up pretty well. With out Jerry Zach and James this channel sucks. I only put up with Nolan and Justin bc we had the other three Jerry Zach and James.

You guys saying you still have creative freedom is good, but you may have to forgive us for being sceptical whenever a car channel gets bought out. Car Throttle is the PRIME example (moreso than Hoonigan imo), they stripped the budgets bit by bit, and then once Alex left to form his own channel, they tried to continue making the same content but with lesser and lesser budgets until ALL of their main presenters left to join Alex. Now they're just a corporate shell. As someone who's watched Donut since 2017, I'll still support you guys but as someone wiser than me once said 'It can take seconds to destroy years of progress'. ❤

Well I for one have enjoyed 99% of the shows I’ve watched. I’m not a super gear head (me and KZbin can do most car projects). I’ve enjoyed seeing the channel evolution and watching y’all grow in your knowledge. I miss James because he’s simply hilarious and whatever he’s up to I wish him well. I’m loving Big Time so far and hope that relationship with y'all continues.

I’ll say the things I miss most about donut: Longer videos that were fun to watch but also informational. Wheelhouse, up to speed, b2b, money pit, hi/low, all these series are what brought me to donuts in the first place. I remember watching an up to speed video clip on Facebook and was instantly hooked by James. Found them on KZbin and fell in love, but over the past few years, sits gone from quirky creators to any other content creator…not to bash y’all or anything, I realize you have to move with the times, but over the last 2 years, it’s become so apparent. Like when McDonald’s went from their classic 90s/00s look, to their current modern, lifeless adult one. Jobe and jer, were great additions to the channel. I personally love jer cause he’s just unapologetically himself and he’s always laughing and joking, but he’s super smart as well. And jobe has a lot of know how, but manages to explain it in layman’s terms without being condescending about it. And James, he’s just so energetic and full of life, and he’s not even here or hasn’t been mentioned. So what’s really going on over at donut?

A successful start up, bought out, and the new owners start losing what made it successful to start with. I hope Donut does well, but I also kinda hope all the boys start over like Big Time did. We love KZbin auto content not because of the production cost.

Who are the big three in this anymore? 3 writers? 3 ..editors? 3 above? I hope this is constructive to Donut and all. One of the main reason people consume anything is consistency. A Big Mac is shit, but you know what you get. Donut can change the formula, format, to any of their products.. but consistency (again) is a worthy endeavor.

Lot of guys here saying they’re brushing James under the carpet. It’s more likely that they wanted to stay silent to let James make his announcement in his own time, on his terms. I feel they’ll be more open to discuss James now that he’s started ‘Speeed’.
