You do not need wool in the Albany warehouse unless one of the cities with a freight line to Albany will also make cloth. There is no demand for wool except by industries.

One of the things I began doing at the end of this mission and continued in the second is at some point I introduce a separate set of tracks and stations for passengers. For the really big cities (over 100.000 people), it gets too crowded to have both freight and passengers on the same lines. So introducing a new station in for example Albany, Boston and later Syracuse, and a couple northeast of Albany, this clears up the current tracks to really move all the freight needed for the big cities. This can take the cities over 200.000 people. Also, I have started using warehouses on the rural stations to bring other things in through a single line. An example here is that my Thompson train station took the vegetables into my Davis Terminal which brought that and milk into albany. I later used that for a bigger freight line going through these two stations to Montreal (I think, the city northeast of Thompson). The warehouses makes the distribution of freight through these rural stations much easier to manage. I haven't used hotels yet, it's pretty much always maintenance and warehouse. With the exception of the city stations passengers/mail stations, where it's possible to add one of the restaurants or something like it.

If you make a rural station the warehouse, it will fill up with goods without a demand. If the warehouse is in a city, then the demand for the goods controls the amount going to the station. So make your rural stations your feeding warehouse to each city, and you can start refilling them before there is a demand and then your trains will bring in a steady flow of all goods to your cities. You basically need 2 sets of warehouses for each city goods demand. And remember, if your city or rural produces something, that doesn't need to be in the warehouse. Also, a city station doesn't need a warehouse for goods, unless you intend to feed those goods to another city. The third campaign mission really starts forcing you to really set up independent lines for each city from a central warehouse that has 7 or even better 8 goods available and feeding into a platform for itself in each city. I can't wait to see how Adyken does it.

@@Adekyn100 actually you're right, it was excellent, except for a certain connections or gridirons where it would bug out, delete a small piece of the track if it was a tad bit curved. Or, for reasons only know to the game :) Can't wait to play RE2!
@JohnnyHughes1

WRT signaling and gridiron. I think there is an auto signal on the station. So once a train is loading, another can go in. But the gridiron is one block. So once a train starts out, it ties up the whole gridiron. If you do an 8 track one, that become a problem (for me anyway). I THOUGHT the terminals also autoselected, but it seems they do not. At least it seemed to me that an individual line does go only to one terminal. But I did notice that it does wait in a station to space out the trains for equal delivery.. So if you have 3 trains on a line, it will try to equally space them to deliver at 1/3 time required for that route. It seems to do that on an ongoing basis, not just at the start when you queue it up. I have 3 trains in a line from Boston to NYC.. I saw a loaded train and it said it was waiting to equalize spacing.

One thing about the good and warehouses, they can go multiple stops, you can reliably get a trickle of good through to 3 different cities away from a business if there's enough production/demand, it just wont ever go more than twice the distance that the crow flies. The warehouse will only function if there is demand further on, however. I have even found it to be the case that my warehouses not connected to anything wont request the items just to have them, there needs to be the demand.

Another tip, you don't have to tare down city buildings, unless you want to relocate them. You can built the next tier directly over the existing one, replacing the old building. It's the reason you can't have multiple.
@kakem0ne
@kakem0ne Жыл бұрын
Actually you can build multiple warehouses and chain them pretty easy in RE2. As long as you select the same goods in both, they will transfer from one warehouse to the next one and then from there to a city that needs the good. So far I tried it out with 2 warehouses chained but should work with more than 2. I think that can be exploited and it does make growing multiple cities kinda easy But one thing is for sure. The scaling of the goods demand is different and more gradual in this new game. Definitely don’t need to spam trains like in the first game. A lot has been improved but there are some shortcomings too…
@MietoK

Yeah, it works. In this mission I did build warehouse to each city as I was thinking it would solve all my issues. And then I had an issue that goods were going everywhere in the map and I was not paid until the goods managed to find the target. And that took a long time 😅 For example two cities sometimes transported grain A->B->A. Or A>B>C>D and another train transported same good at the same time from different source D>C>B>A. Lovely mess 😅

Yeah, you also need to pay close attention or they won't drop stuff at the other end and you'll find trains taking the goods back to their original warehouse, so make sure to shut goods going back off

Fortunately they changed the way pause works in this game, you can now pause anytime pressing space, so you don't need to open the track building while thinking/planing... Also you can chain warehouses, however for the basic resources it quickly becomes difficult to supply enough goods as supply are grabbed by cities who has access to the chain. Example with milk: in your setup you'll have to fill the needs of Albany+Syracuse+Boston before any would be shipped to Buffalo, NY or Portland (assuming there are warehouses and trains set up everywhere)

Something I noticed on stations in the same cities as opponents. They seem to do a better job at transferring passengers and freight than RE1. I connected NYC to Philly to Washington to Charlotte to be able to connect to Pittsburg, Norfolk, Big Lick. When I tried running trains between the cities shared with the opponent, I got no passengers or freight transferred, he was already transferring everything. I was able to add NEW items and make those work and do passengers and items from those to places he did not also service. Every time, if I tried to duplicate one of his services, I got nothing. Not sure if eventually with growrh there will be enough for two competitors to share or not.

Why did you build a second station in Albany when you still had 4 more platforms available at the initial station? Seems to me you could have avoided all the extra track expenses adding more platforms. Is building a second station and additional platforms actually cheaper than adding the last 4 platforms at the initial station?

Wait until you have watched later videos. If anything, this first look at the game on mission 1 used too few stations. One of the tricks to the game, which we discovered later, is to optimize the use of the two station buildings at each station. There are lots of ways to do that, but they all involve more stations, not less.

I almost always create 4 lines out at each station long enough to put out a gridiron on each end.. That gives me 4 tracks and 4 platforms.. With each track having access to each platform. It is basically the equivalent of a large signal controlled stationing RE1.

Isn't it a better option to build a warehouse on an existing goods line? A station can be placed anywhere on your territory and a warehouse can be attached to it. This way you might avoid traffic overload in a city and cities that need a good from this warehouse, will automatically get it there if I have understood the tutorial correctly? Or am I wrong?
@gdbalck
@gdbalck Жыл бұрын
That's the strategy I've been using. A good change from RE1 is that you no long need to select the good being produced by an RGO's station's warehouse. Meaning, if you plop a station next to a grain farm, you don't need to select grain in the warehouse for it to be picked up. So a station that can pick up 2 goods, along with a warehouse, is pushing through 8 goods to all its connected city lines.

Hi Adekyn. I’m curious how you feel about not having any way to build individual signals in the new game. The short signals for trains returning to rural businesses (forget the name) are a staple of my game. I got this tactic from you (thanks) and I know you use them in a lot of your videos also. Any thoughts? Possibly emailing the devs to see if manual signals is something they will add to a future patch?

@JohnnyHughes1
@JohnnyHughes1 Жыл бұрын
The best I can tell, no matter what you do, you can not fill one warehouse from another. So once you put a warehouse in a city, the items go out of that warehouse ONLY on trains that directly connect to the city that the warehouse is in. They will provide items to any cities you send a train to but will not fill up another warehouse. So no city>warehouse>warehouse >city lines.
@stevegooch1776
@stevegooch1776 Жыл бұрын
It's up to the traffic coming in. If a city is filled with a good and fully satisfied it will start passing goods to other cities, they do chain together and over time will start growing everything, but only the base demands. If you have a factory using a good, that won't be satisfied through a chain, you have to have a direct line to feed the factory. Your rural warehouses will immediately start filling with goods when you set a train to go there with them, city warehouses only gets goods based on demands.
@gdbalck
@gdbalck Жыл бұрын
Warehouses do not create demand like they did in RE1. They act as conduits. This is very different from RE1. There's no maximum amount they can store of any of the six goods. Instead, lines connecting the warehouse to cities drives the demand up the chain to the RGO's station. They are more like hubs. Whereas in RE1 you would need multiple warehouses to feed large cities, now you can feed multiple cities from one warehouse, the only limiting factor being production capacity and throughput. Personally, I love the change. It simplifies my networks. Now you can have dedicated passenger and freight stations in cities if so desired, specializing the station attachments.
@soldiersvejk2053
@soldiersvejk2053 Жыл бұрын
@@gdbalckTo use one warehouse (A) to feed multiple cities (X, Y, Z). you would have to set up three separate lines between A-X, A-Y, and A-Z, it that right? I think this makes warehouse rather pointless, because I can simply set up those lines directly to the rural business station if warehouses cannot pass on to other warehouses...

Yeah, but you only have so many passengers. This game is a logistics game, all about keeping the flow going where it is needed and when it is needed. Traniac mode was the hardest mode in re1, you needed signaling. That is a separate setting and you can adjust that in this game too I think, but you have to open the editing of the scenarios by playing the campaign and learning the new mechanics of a new game.

Supply the cities with the goods they demand, they grow, which creates more demand for more complex goods and more passengers/mail. That's identical in both games. City growth is integral to the gameplay loop. If anything RE2 streamlined it but it has a different enough system of rules from RE1 that a learning curve exists outside of prior RE1 knowledge. Trains and lines are much easier to manage now. The UI even tells you the utilization of your lines, if at 100%, add a train. If not, you could but the returns will be lower.

Man can someone PLEASE explain the stock market. There are four “markets”: Industry, Construction, Raw Materials, and Transport.” Do I as the player have any bearing on the prices? Can I as the player DO THINGS in the game to alter the prices or is it arbitrary and random? The game does a pathetic job at explaining these things, it’s unacceptable. If I build a bunch of industry for example well the stock prices fluctuate? I want to be armed with the information to make actionable decisions.
