Being a Melbournite I love this city so much. You can be totally alone in Melbourne and never feel lonely. There is a warmth & friendliness (without people invading your space) in Melbourneive never felt elsewhere. Of course there’s stuff happening you wish didn’t but overall a safe welcoming city.

I live in Melbourne and you captured it well 💕 good you brought a puffer jacket. You learn super fast to carry a jacket EVERYWHERE, even in summer. One day in summer I remember it was 36 degrees , a cool change happened and the temperature fell down to 20 degrees just in the space of half an hour! ACMI stands for Australian Centre for the Moving Image.

Southbank is a suburb, but yes, it's literally the Yarra's south bank too. Melbourne weather is notoriously changeable and we can get a run of grey days, especially in winter - but that just gives you an excuse to wear cosy jackets 😊

Please let your friend know that on the hook turn she should wait for the light to turn green on the street she is turning into. She committed a traffic offense by turning on the orange against the red light. Love the video though.

hook turns are not done in all of Melbourne, only a few hook turns in the CDB and they are very clearly labeled, that hook turn they did in the video was not a hook turn intersection, so they were lucky the police did not see them.

@@jasonpearce8089 Yes. Neither her or her driver seemed to realise that the hook turn is there so traffic doesn't block trams coming through the middle of the intersection. But they must only be done where the large hook-turn signs say so, not just anywhere.

The saying goes 4 seasons in a day. Summer can be 42c and then at 3pm and change in temp can drop it to 16c with rain. Always loves this as it was a relief.

Australia is a massive country, the parts up north closer to the equator are pretty much as you’ve described, a large portion of Aus is desert, tropical, and subtropical.. but you need to remember Melbourne is down south, the southernmost parts of Aus are neighbouring Antarctica. It’s doesn’t snow often at sea level here, but it is frequently below 0c in winter!

Of course - it’s called The Canvas Hotel! Although, idk if I recommend it 🤔🤔 it’s not bad, and it’s affordable. BUTTT I think there‘s better boutique hotels maybe more north of the CBD with a cosier vibe
