[0:16] 1. Use reverses [0:31] 2. Use pitch bends [0:43] 3. Use short delays with heavy feedback [0:53] 4. Use low ambient sounds in the background [1:12] 5. For build-ups: Stay on the last chord/note before [1:27] 6. EQ out everything thats unnecessary [1:43] 7. Solid/Catchy vocal sample or melody in the break (if you‘re creating hard drops) [2:04] 8. Find a specific niche for your track (be unique) [2:19] 9. Sub note not an a C (if your track is meant to be for festivals/clubs) [2:30] 10. DIVA (synthesizer plugin) [2:37] 11. Distort everything a little (if you want a heavy squashed mix) [2:55] 12. Put white noise before kick (so it punches trough better) [3:09] 13. Put a cowbell on kick (so it punches trough better) [3:18] 14. Bounce samples from finished songs (for a better workflow) [3:25] 15. Save favourite presets (for a better workflow) [3:33] 16. Download Jonas Aden samplepacks (free) [3:40] 17. Use same sidechaining curves for everything [3:51] 18. Bitcrushing things a bit too much [4:00] 19. Introduce main drop lead with filter automation [4:14] 20. Use reference songs [4:26] 21. Learn an instrument [4:31] 22. Collaborate with many people [4:37] 23. Experiment [4:52] 24. Study the arrangement of other songs [5:07] 25. Check out what other DJ's playing (and how the crowd is reacting) [5:14] 26. Put a recognizable sound in every track [5:31] 27. Vocal Mixing: Use a transient master [5:50] 28. EQ out nasty resonances [6:06] 29. Start the song with something catchy [6:24] 30. Put samples a little off timing (e.g. claps) [6:41] 31. Make delays unregular [6:52] 32. Use distorted noise [7:05] 33. Put crowd noise in the background [7:20] 34. Reverb: Use same space and decay time on your elements [7:32] 35. Compress elements in buses [7:46] 36. Put something that pitches up at the end of parts [8:08] 37. Have saperate A and B parts (e.g. additional drums) [8:32] 38. Be creative with what you use (recording things) [8:51] 39. Add additional things at second chorus/drop [9:10] 40. Again: DIVA [9:14] 41. White Noises in combination with distorted noises (+ haas effect) [9:34] 42. & 43. Produce on low volume [9:52] 44. Use a plugin thats meant for one thing for an other thing (e.g. VocalSynth) [10:08] 45. Use/Recording your own voice [10:23] 46. Pan things & automate it [10:48] 47. Start melodies unusually [11:11] 48. Add a little counter melody at the second half of the chorus/drop [11:30] 49. Bounce out the lead and put it one octave up at the second party of the drop [11:49] 50. Think of the mix as a box [12:35] 51. Cowbells can also used for other things to punch through better [12:58] 52. Put a limiter on master chain to check how everything is sounding Was a bit of work, but I thought this would help a lot of people ✌️

Another couple quick tips for producers and musicians: 1) Listen to your music on multiple platforms. Don't just listen to your music on 1 device/platform. These days it's really easy to use USB devices to listen to music on everything from cell phones to car stereos. Listen to your mix on everything available to you(or your friends.. yes commandeer the stereo in their car next time you go somewhere with them!). 2) Learn to master your audio! It takes some time and practice but it's well worth the time and effort to have tracks that you've already mastered yourself hit a mastering engineer's office. It'll mean less time going back to the mix to fix things later! 3) Listen to your mix/song on Mono. With all the delays, reverb, offsets, panning, and compression these days it can be hard to tell how your mix is filling the audio spectrum. The best way to see how well a mix fills up the spectrum, is to set the audio to mono to get a better idea of how the different effects and instruments fill the space. This can help point out areas where it's too crowded or lacking in the spectrum that an analyzer can't really portray even with it's fancy graphics.

Thanks for the awesome and to the point video! Here's a personal short list I made myself with the hacks I found particularily intersting: ⁃ low ambient noise in the back of the track ⁃ EQ out everything thats unnecessary ⁃ Club: no sub note C. Better D#-A ⁃ add distortion in mix and master for squeezed track ⁃ layer short white noise on kick. Bonus: very short cowbell pitched to same note as kick ⁃ download Jonas Ayden sample packs ⁃ use same slopes on every sidechain ⁃ bitcrush for extra weirdness ⁃ use reference tracks, load into daw project ⁃ study arrangement and production of tracks you like ⁃ cut sustain on vocal: basically compress with slow attack ⁃ EQ out resonant parts. boost to find harsh parts, then cut those ⁃ ‘starting the song off right away with something catchy, recognizable for the listener’ ⁃ JA put a clap and a snare on top of each other, clap a little bit earlier in timing ⁃ layer distorted noises on top of vocal ⁃ crowd noise in the background. Maybe sidechain compress crowd noise with vocal ⁃ all reverbs same space, or same decay ⁃ compress things together in buses ⁃ some noise being pitched up towards the drop, even in the background ⁃ slowly pan around background noises or pads ⁃ consider near, mid and far space in mix. Fill up the back of the box as well. Anyway, picture the mix like a box

This is a very good video to watch every couple to few months, I find. The reason is that sometimes things make sense, but you're not really in a position to receive and assimilate some important things. You need to be ready to "get it." This video gives you a quick way to see if there is something you're ready for! I remember the first time I watched this: I nodded my head, "uh huh, I get it, that makes sense" to every tip, but I didn't really "get" (as in able to really make use of) the vast majority of them. Now, I sometimes think "oh, I do that now, I really get it." But most of these tips I'm still working on! Thanks for a great, useful video.
