I'm gonna go through this video again slowly -- with a notebook on hand and my DAW open to make sure I can properly use all the tips that apply to my music. It is unreal how many truly useful ideas are packed into this short video. I'm so grateful for all the work and knowledge you were willing to share with this. Thank you very much!

Apologies if you're already aware, but if you click on the gear icon ("settings") you can select a playback speed that goes from one quarter playback speed all the way up to double speed. I use it all the time to speed up videos where the presenter speaks a little too slowly for me. For this video, of course, we'd slow it down.

Sound design tip that I accidentally discovered to be useful! Take a drum sequencer and grab a bunch of rides then arrange them in a pattern, adjust the pitch of each one slightly and send them all to an FX channel, In that channel, add an EQ with a 200hz low cut, then add a reverb of your choice and turn the wetness up to 100% with the decay around 5-10 seconds, layer on another EQ cutting all the high end starting at 4-6khz, and low cut at 200hz yet again to remove some reverb rumble then finally add on a filter and low pass it to your preference! Now u have a Windy atmospheric sample! I randomly did this one day and played around with fx afterwards and now use it as an essential atmosphere/Ambience!

3:26 BEWARE using stereo widening plugins for this. They have algorithms to keep the stereo parts in the new mono version. This makes them disingenuous to how it actually sounds on a mono speaker. When I do this, I use a mid-side eq, but just mute the sides.

Be careful when using tip #33, many people doesn't know this but the ''side'-channels is actually the sum of the difference between the left and the right channel, so if you do this you actually affect all frequencies in the chosen EQ-band where the left and right channel differs, which could mean that you might affect the mid-channel too. It's a neat trick, I use it alot, but just keep this in mind.

you can use Edisons detect pitch regions button to help with a lot of things, i use this quite a lot when i cant quite figure out how to make a melody i'm imagining, I can just sing it and use the detect pitch regions and it can help. side note: it isn't always perfectly accurate.

“Non-western scales”? All the ones you showed were created when 12TET became a thing which was in Europe haha. I think a better description would be “exotic” or “abnormal” since most people only fuck with Ionian (major) and Aeolian (minor). If you delve a tad bit deeper, most musicians will play around with some Mixolydian, Mixolydian b6, and Dorian, but that’s about it. Then metal artists love Locrian and Phrygian and jazz artists love Lydian, but that’s about all you’ll hear nowadays. It does give you some new sounds to explore for sure! So far, I absolutely adore Dorian. It’s mysterious yet familiar, haunting yet comforting, and so many other emotions. Definitely recommend for intermediate musicians who wanna learn more

If you're not using a lot of reverb in your song, putting reverb on the master in not a bad idea for verses, intros, and outros. You can just fade it out in the build up/pre-drop (if you want lol)
