Adenosine in Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT): How to administer and how it works?

In this video, we have explained the administration of injection #adenosine in treatment of Supraventricular tachycardia or #SVT and its effect in 48 year old female patient with #ecg rhythm of SVT.
Adenosine can be given both from peripheral and central IV access.
The initial dose of adenosine preferred in SVT is 6 mg and should be given over 1 to 3 seconds, or administered very quickly, and should be followed with an IV fluid solution to push it into circulation.
As soon as adenosine is administered, the arm should be raised above the head to get it to the target, which is the AV nodal receptors in the heart.
As soon as it reaches its target receptor, it acts very quickly to reduce the AV conduction, thus reducing heart rate.
Adenosine exerts a negative chronotropic effect by suppressing the automaticity of cardiac pacemakers and a negative dromotropic effect through inhibition of AV-nodal conduction.

Drinking coffee doesn't sound like great idea as it blocks adenosine reseptors. Normal way to slow down body functions doesn't work.

I wonder why adenosine is preferred to be given to the left arm rather than the right arm

I learned in my ACLS course that left arm is preferred because the line is closest to the heart

Pretty slick of you to not show the patient’s reaction or even mention the effect. Then again pretty typical on that part of the world to downplay the patient comfort aspect.
