So true :S If only they can see what goes on in our brain :S The amount of mental energy it takes to just simply get out of bed can be a struggle sometimes, replying to emails( sometimes I procrastinate because i'm over analysing what i'm going to say lol trying not to get distracted when im trying to do one simple thing on the computer but then I also enjoying multitasking but that leads to distractions after distractions and then hours later, nothing has been done :S anyway...lol we are so much more lol when our brain wants us to be lmfao

I had a "laughs in ADHD" moment the other day when I spent 15 minutes getting ready to leave for therapy for my depression and ADHD, just to leave the house and before the end of the block realize I had to go back to get my mask (here it's not mandatory in the street, but it is in public transport and public indoor spaces, but when I just walk my dog I usually don't need one since I stay away from people, so I haven't made it a proper habit even though it's been a year). Also, ADHD moment when you realize you went to write a comment and didn't even pause the video, so I'll now have to jump 1 minute back again.

Having ADHD I find it being the opposite.. with speaking of the video playing in the background. I would find it way too difficult to type a sentence and hear words at the same time, like from another source. It would completely distract me.. I can see how you might forget to hit pause, but at the same time.. I’m like there’s no way I could type and be able to blank out the conversation next to me. I would maybe argue that not everything you do is ADHD associated just because you have it, that doesn’t make it YOU. if you understand what I’m getting at. Then again, due to anything cognitive related.. it’s on a spectrum and difficult to really pinpoint a type of ADHD. Anyway, just thinking out loud (or maybe not since I’m typing)..

I've also seen a lot of those posts that say "this is a symptom of ADHD" from Tumblr and other sites, which lead people to wonder if they have it. Going deeper and learning about the DSM-5 criteria is quite helpful in learning about the disorder, and I hope more people learn about ADHD so they can receive a better understanding of themselves, as well as the help they may need.

I've encountered a lot more creators with ADHD lately on my social media and started to realise that I related to their symptoms more than I thought I would. With this video and hearing the checklist I've made up my mind to see a psychiatrist for a proper check-up. If I do in fact have ADHD, I'd like to get the help I need. Thanks for making this video, it was really helpful.

I’m so glad to hear that adhd medication has improved your life! You deserve it so so much. Unfortunately they don’t work for me and dramatically worsen my depression and mood swings even in very low doses, (2.5-5 mg a day still leaves me severely anhedonic) however I have found that a teaspoon of creatine helps my fatigue somewhat and there has been studies showing benefits for adhd and autistic people.

When I was first diagnosed with Adult ADHD it made me really mad. To top it off the only things the psychiatrist gave me were prescriptions for 5 really strong Medications. I never took the meds. That was in 2007 but lately I've come to realize that the diagnosis was true. I'll be having a new ADHD evaluation next week and I asked my MS Specialist to set this up because all my adaptive tricks have ceased to help, my art studio is a mess and so is my house. I'm really glad that I found your video so that I can think about my childhood and how that relates to how I "disfunction" now. You've provided a very straightforward, and whimsical, explanation for testing and I feel much better knowing what to expect. Thanks so much for caring about others so much that you had the heart to reveal your own issues to the world.

Good video. Thanks. I’m currently being diagnosed and have every symptom mentioned in this video. I’m now 50 and wish I had know I had adhd before. It would explain the self medicating, broken relationships, clutter, losing things all the time, people saying I don’t listen or care about them, and a totally inability to do certain tasks until they have become absolutely critical. I hope meds will help but not kill my creative/entrepreneurial traits I have.

A friend of mine that has inattentive presentation ADHD told me, that they strongly believe I might have it too. I didn’t really believe them first but I started to look into ADHD symptoms more after that. I’ve realised that I might just have ADHD and listening to you explaining everything and talking about the symptoms of inattentive presentation ADHD really made something click, like it makes sense now. Of course, I can’t be entirely sure until I actually get tested and maybe diagnosed but I’m really happy that you made this video! It was very interesting and even if I end up not having ADHD, it has helped me understand the Disorder a bit more. Thanks you😊

Yeah I definitely probably have ADHD. This explains a lot in my life. I have felt this way for about a year now and finally am seeing a professional about a diagnosis. It explains a lot in my life especially now. You could see little things in my life that would be cause for concern. I think that it was just so minor people didn't notice because it wasn't like how it was normally seen and I already had another unofficial diagnosis that they felt could explain it. But, it didn't and now I believe it to be wrong because of how anything they said happened didn't or did has disappeared and now fits criteria for ADHD.

In 6th grade, I had the most RANDOM URGE to climb onto the top of my desk and look at the ceiling, so I did it. I didn't care why, just felt right to me. Teacher yelled at me & sent me to the other side of the room. The kids started laughing at me. I ended up feeling SOOOO ANGRY and couldn't focus on anything but the feeling, so I broke the CRAP out of a ruler and it shattered. I was sent to the office, & school counselor who called me "special" in a demeaning way, and staff didn't treat me respectful at all. I was then bullied for the rest of the year, until I was jumped. I kept trying to mask, but nothing was working. I was sent to counselors, psychiatrists, & psychologists, who began to diagnose me with ALL SORTS of things. Intermittent Explosive Disorder, GAD, Depression, Bipolar II Disorder (which has STUCK-), Panic Disorder w/ Agoraphobia, and Atypical Anorexia. On top of this, I was TRANS AND QUEER AS WELL, so I was just confused through my teens. I ended up checking myself into a rehab hospital at 18 after SO MUCH pressure & I became a harm to myself. The ENTIRE TIME since childhood, I KNEW I had ADHD though. But I think Because of it, and because of what I now realize is undiagnosed Autism AS WELL-, I never brought it up when it would've mattered, nor would they have believed me.🤦🏻 I can't stop thinking about HOW MUCH easier I could've had it, if I was just appropriately accommodated in THAT FIRST MOMENT when I had that meltdown in class.🤔👀👀😶 I hope I get an eval someday, because I have about 13 symptoms. I feel relieved too, but it's a mixed feeling. Thank you for wording everything so well so I could understand💖🙌🏻

Thanks for this video post. I’m having my assessment tomorrow, as a 28 year old (nearly 29) male. I’ve found myself in lots of different jobs, and studying lots of random stuff too. Having tons of interest but not knowing how to manage them. Also, being diagnosed with dyslexia in school and struggling with many aspects of academic development. My vocabulary is decent due to lots of work put in, and being encouraged to read at a young age. However, loads of other things have posed larger challenges like concentrating and also my ability to count (it’s terrible). Anyway! Long story short, I’m heading in for an official diagnosis for both dyslexia and ADHD tomorrow. Thought this video might help prepare myself a bit, and it has so thank you :) I tick most of these boxes, and If anyone has any questions regarding assessment and how it’s done current day.. please feel free to message, and I’ll happily share my experience.

Having to prove you had it before 12 seems like a massive cop out from diagnosing adult ADHD. The NHS are sending the message here that adhd doesn't develop in adulthood, when other bodies say it can. I have all the systems of combined adhd but won't bother going to my GP as it will take years to get treatment if they believe me at all.

Thanks for this video, Ella ☺️. I suspect I might have it, but what if I don't remember much from my childhood? I remember smells and feelings (mostly feelings). I only remember as a detail that my parents told me I often overlooked details in easier tasks and that I had very poor self control. Plus I often answered a question without thinking right after it was asked. Like a doctor asked me if I had a specific symptom and I said no right away. Then I wondered, why in the hell did I say no, I clearly have that symptom. Hyperfocus was a thing for me, though. I could watch Peter Pan back to back the whole day and never got enough of it...Same nowadays with different stuff 😆 Thanks for the video, have to replay it though, because I wasn't paying attention for at least half of it 🥺

I went to the doctor and she was so dismissive. She thought I had GAD which I disagreed with as I’d already been through the tests for that and didn’t feel like that quiet fit. She said since it’s so popular online lately so many people think they have it. So what it’s popular it’s helping a lot of people realize they may have something wrong. Even it’s it’s not adhd I know I have something

I laughed when they diagnosed me with ADHD. I overfocus so much and have trouble switching activities. But I do qualify for the diagnosis.

I just seen a psychiatrist today. She prescribed me with antidepressants and antaxiety drugs. She said in one session didn't enough to conclude that I'm ADHD. But she needs to collect more proof from my parents. I got classed as inattentive and impulsive.

Diagnosis seems so simple. I had to complete a 150 odd question questionnaire, spend 4 hours with a clinical psychologist and $1655 to get a diagnosis 🙄still waiting on the results, 2 weeks later plus the 2 months for the referral and appointment… plus the 42 years it took me to realise that’s most likely why I am the way I am

considering I've replayed the symptoms 3 times and still haven't listened to all of them makes me feel a little bit confident with my upcoming assessment.

I've just come across here now as I've been wondering about whether I have it for months, but I can't remember more than a couple of instances from when I was younger and I'm scared to ask my parents for help 😅

im 23 and currently getting tested for ADHD and i have had every single one of the symptoms you listed except from leaving the seat one since i was in primary school 😂 my symptoms were not very present since i was younger and some of them are easier to control than others and hide them, hence my parents or my teachers not referring me. My GP thinks that since im a musician that the symptoms would have been more apparent had i not played any musical instruments,as they re wire the brain and positively impact Executive function, which ADHD impacts. Jeez i think i dont just ramble when talking in person, its also in messages 😂

Im both combined. Tomorrow I'm finally getting assessed. The wait time and the process to get to where I am has been painful :s from being misdiagnosed to getting referred to the wrong people, was seeing a therapist for my depression and anxiety but really, I already knew how to cope with that, I just wanted to speak to someone :S. I took matters into my own hands and transferred to another local doctors thanks to my cousin who is also diagnosed with ADHD, ASD and Bipolar. Anyway I've only been with my new docs right from the start they knew exactly what to do and they also had a general ADHD self assessment sheet for me to go through. It was the best thing ever. Someone was doing their job for once :S Its been over a month or so now and I've already seen the wellness team twice and now I'm seeing a specialist tomorrow for my assessment. So I'm nervous... I'm scared of not knowing what to prepare in advance. I struggle with appointments, one of ones, not knowing what the plan is and i don't like jumping into something without having a plan in advance :s Anyway I'm just glad i'm heading in the right direction :S Thanks for sharing :) I really appreciate it :)

Hey! Wondering how it went? And if you have any further clarification for what your dealing with? Additionally, what was the process like and was it worth doing do you feel? Lots of questions, but there’s too many people that don’t follow up on their initial comments. So that leaves me with lots of questions.. plus I have my assessment tomorrow. So yeah should be interesting

9 / 5.... and made it 49 years without knowing...well 48 cause I had to wait 8 (!!!!) months to be diagnosed. I was 49 and 8 days when I got my diagnoses.. But then again what is 8 more months when you have meddled trough 48 without it. Knew something was different with me by the time I was 9 tho. And had a load of misdiagnoses inbetween then and finding out it could be ADHD. Still these days we do not distinguis between Inattentive, Hyperactive or combined anymore. And I cant find my copy right now (yes ironic) but I think that this is already vanished in DMS 5? Or did I learn that in Psychopathology class while still having DSM 5 with the wrong info?

Looks like I probably have inattentive ADHD. This is something I have long suspected, and been asked by others if I have ADHD, to which I usually answer with "Probably"

I'm the person with the words. If you spend more than .5 seconds trying to find the word you were thinking of, there I am, whether I was in the conversation or not, throwing out suggestions instead of letting it come to you. I'm usually right, but I've realized how annoying it is. I just haven't been able to stop myself so far.

I was diagnosed with ADHD AT 52 INNERTENTIVE Type. I sometimes Climb and balance and have impulses that I can not stop. I have been doing this all my life always looked I did not why to Police and Public had a hard time still do while out. there a not stigma in People being different and courses a lot of Problems for me. I do what it takes to be clean of drags been clean for 30 years now I can have the meds as I have high BP. The police you to bully me for 30 years and if it went for them I would never know they gave me such a hard for exercising I did not understand why and they made me upset whenever they come up to me while I was out exercising, its a bit better now but still happens the Harassment the discrimination is high. People don't understand people being different.
