I like the way doc said that he doesn’t care about those future things. He cares about right now. That’s often the case for me. “Screw what should Motivate you, find what does!”

great video! but also the choice of sport is extremely important. I would sincerely recommend all fellow ADHDers to try out Rock Climbing (btw despite the name half of it, if not most, happens in the gym). Here's some reasons I think I was able to stick to it for more than 5 years now, unlike other hobbies: a) it's absolutely not mundane, because no two routes are the same. They all have different moves, they feel different, they require different skills (physical, technique, even mental). In many cases this difference is just staggering. b) you can have as much instant gratification as you want - score easier routes for more of it, or work longer on harder ones for more challenge - both are valid training strategies, and heck you can combine them even on the same day. c) it's as social as you want it to be (many struggle with this aspect too). With caveats you can train alone, with partner or as part of the gang. Again, you can combine those depending on how you feel. d) you're not stuck on one thing - it opens a door to the whole universe of climb-related sports - from mountaineering or ice-climbing on one extreme to athletic speed climbing on the other and everything in between. If you get bored with what you're doing now, you're in a very good position to throw in some novelty by trying out other stuff - your knowledge, physic and social connection will make it a breeze hope it helps someone, cheers!

Also, some with ADHD struggle with competitive sports. Climbing can be competitive but typically it is an individual exercise with no clock. thanks for posting and shareing your experience.

@Kishor Kulkarni - Yes! I've never thought of it like that before! Hypoactivity = zero desire to even start. Lack of internal motivation. Thanks for the video, it reminded me of how to find my support in getting active again.
