Thank you! I’m 40 and realizing I have ADHD. I feel extreme exhaustion everyday. I think that a lifetime of trying to be a neurotypical brain is beginning to take a toll. I’m trying to figure out the causes as co scantly taking caffeine is also taking a toll. Any suggestions on figuring out the causes? Thank you!

You set rules and standards for yourself that may be okay for a neurotypical person but not for you. You have to find out all of the believes you out onto yourself and dissolve them through psychotherapy (you don't need a healthcare professional there are a masses of videos about psychotherapy for example jordan peterson, eckhart tolle but it could be easier with a professional). To begin you should stop trying to be something and just let your true self act itself out, don't judge, don't put value on anything you do, think or feel. If you want to change something, change it but beating yourself up for it or thinking about it won't get you anywhere. Take out a piece of paper and a pencil and write down what you think is negative in your life. If you can change something, write down a plan on how you can change it, if you can't change it, sit with it until you are okay with it. You can do that with everything btw. Just sit with something and look at it, feel it, touch it, whatever it is, observe it until it doesn't bother you anymore, because it is just your judgement that makes it good or bad and if you dissolve that judgement by observing and asking yourself "why do i dislike this" "why do i find this annoying, what is it that i find annoying" and if you sit with it long enough that your judgement of good and bad was just a misconception you had because of past experiences that needes to be dissolved

@@ABeautifulEarthForOurChildren Thank you! I’ve been making small changes and then assessing to see how I feel. If I include small bite size bits of everything I want in the day balanced with self care I’ve been making a lot of progress. Unfortunately, my negative brain chatters comes from a Mom with Narcissistic Personality Disorder so it took a lot of therapy to rewire my brain. No amount of KZbin could ever be enough. I found 1 1/2 years of EMDR life changing. Thank you for the help!

Very interesting.. I have had sleep issues and exhaustion, depression, anxiety and physical pain for years. I was diagonsed with fibromyalgia but as I learn more about my ADHD...I am thinking that can actually the issue. By the way I am 70 years old...nobody heard of this when I was young and I was not diagnosed until I was 68.

I completely relate. I have ME/CFS and fibromyalgia, age 63 now, it’s dawning on me that my constant energy crashes are down to my ADHD way of ‘doing’ life. I’m seeking ways I can help myself with this. I’m awaiting an assessment but I already know really.

I have ADD ADHD and MCS which is multiple chemical sensitivity. Feels like it's getting harder and harder to live on this planet. I find it so sad and frustrating how hard it is to find nature, clean air places that don't have car exhaust, dryer sheets, Tide, and the like, scented candles, air fresheners.. (killing me smelly podcast is informative.) It is sickening how people are so unaware of what they're doing to people, wildlife and the environment. Cutting down more and more trees which help clean the air!😞 So many people need non-toxic, sustainable, healthy living environments and it just does not exist in very many areas at all. Cheap building materials, vinyl flooring, off gassing carpets. Anyone has any ideas for sustainable, healthy living places please let me know!

Theta waves. Hey there. Did u know adhd have more theta waves (sleepy brain waves) during day time due to reduced norepinephrine and dopamine among the other reasons you mentioned. When I started medication I found that problem completely disappeared. No more sleepy days. It was Dr this reason alone I decided to continue taking medicine after my initial trial.

What if there isn’t anything we can cut out task wise and nowhere to retreat to? In order for me to have exercise and a needed social life, that cuts in. And I still live at home where I’m always on guard to be asked to complete tasks and there is almost always noise which contributes to sensory overloading.

I have such a hard time sensing what I need to truly rest. Like the other week going outside and resting a lot wasn't recharging me at all. But then I went to a couple of fun stores with my daughter and felt so re-energized. But next time it might be the other way around or even something way different. I wish I could figure out how I can know what it is I need. I'm audhd btw. Any advice is appreciated.

Our brains go hard and unfortunately do not always know we need rest until we are burnt out. Dr. Hallowell shares, "We have Ferrari Brains with Bicycle Breaks." I recommend you carve out some time in your day to reflect on your optimal focus time, your sleep, nutrition and boundaries. Once we get an idea of what is optimal for OUR BRAINS, it is THEN we can use those tools to help us feel less exhausted. I also am currently taking a few tests to learn about my hormones, neurotransmitters and vitamin deficiencies so I can optimize those as well. Hope this helps! I related and resonated with everything you said in the first 1 minute!! Restless Leg Syndrome at bedtime has caused me problems for years and repeating thoughts when trying to get to sleep also often wake me up when I have fallen asleep. I have a terrible sleep pattern and have tried so many things to correct it but to this day (in my late 40s) have found few solutions. I'm tired when I get up and most days need a nap in the day to catch up. Fortunately for me I work from home, if I had to work away from home I don't know how I'd cope in the day.

Hi @@Angel-gb9gi thanks, I never knew about dairy being a cause. I'm already milk free as it give me migraines, gluten free, caffeine free and limit my cocoa (migraines again). I'll have to start a diary. I have been recently supplementing Vit D3, Zinc, B Complex and Magnesium which seems t help with my energy levels but I still get the restless legs.

ADHD is not a one size fits all solution. Many individuals who are able to delegate or hire out do because they want to focus on their strengths and not their weaknesses.
