ADHD is like living with a design department in your head but the planning department is short staffed and often closed. You have a million and one ideas that you churn out all the time but no one to implement those ideas, IE motivation.

This is an incredibly apt analogy!

I totally relate, so many unfinished projects, things lying around and going to waste 😢. But you slabs of wood are at least great for biodiversity in your garden, and once broken down they’re going to be great for soil-improvement.

Positive spin: Termites and various bugs are loving the Woody Ritz-Carlton! Sorry Rick, that’s all I got … as I stare at the slabs in my back garden which have been there for 6+ years now … and counting.

lol. Can totally relate to this. ‘All the gear, and no idea’ is how my brain works a lot of the time. Ps - I also had lots of cut down tree trunks that lay around for a while. They were starting to rot, and I couldn’t lift them. Someone advised me to put them on gumtree as ‘free firewood / wood - collection only’ I posted pictures and was honest about their condition. Incredibly people were falling over themselves to collect and all were gone within 24 hrs.

I'm in my mid-40s, and I can probably count the number of projects that I've seen through to completion on one hand. I realized long ago that I'm just a dreamer, and now try not to take on anything new, and just exist. And I've never had an official diagnosis.

I recently moved and ended up having at least 22 bags of trash that I threw away because I was on a deadline and I had to get rid of it. I also have at least 24 bags of Goodwill stuff. That's a result of hey I'm going to go try that crap I'm going to go try that recipe I'm going to go try this or that and never did and now the stuff is just sitting there. It's really sad because once I do involve myself in hyperfocus in a crap or in a good meal it's fantastic but that just doesn't happen as much as I would like.
@RickHasADHD25 күн бұрын
Hopefully as you develop your ability to hyper-focus when you want to things will improve. There's no such thing as perfection. I still misplace my keys every month or so. But it used to be almost daily.

Firewood! Time for a bonfire! You still had a wonderful idea. Give credit where credit is due. The only problem was you didn't get to it early enough and/or there wasn't someone available to help. Steps are a big job and they're heavy

Many people with ADHD have great ideas, but not the energy or the discipline of time to turn it into reality.
