Instead of going full-blown SKUs, maybe just enter the category in the SKU field (Toys, Electronics, Household Items, Tools Chest, etc.).
@donnasstitch-in-timecroche890323 күн бұрын
My SKU system is similar. ACC is for accessories, meaning clothing accessories such as belts, suspenders and ties. Then I throw a number on. So my first accessory SKU looks like ACC-101. AW is Apparel Women. AM is Apparel Men, J is Jewelry, CH IS Children, T is Toys, and so on. It works for me. I don’t have near the inventory that ADHDave does, but since numbers go to infinity I don’t foresee any problems with this system. Just a thought.

Dave, I find using an “over-the-door shoe organizer” for small items. Hope this helps you with finding stuff. Love your channel. 😊
@RickInMaryland25 күн бұрын
I have three of these just to store small items. Not so much to resell, but for general purpose stuff used in and around the house. One on the back of the laundry room door, and on both sides of the laundry room to the garage door.
@bethanymay305624 күн бұрын
I want to get some of these. I also wouldn't mind getting plastic containers made for bead storage or embroidery floss storage for super smalls. I have also been buying Caboodles to use for my super smalls. I love Caboodles, I can resell them when/if I want to in the future. Currently. I am using shoeboxes. They stack so well, are sturdy, and you can fit a lot in them.

Whatnot has been like that for the last year or so in the sports card industry. Plenty of people have gotten scammed, myself included. I get there are bad people on every platform, but it is how Whatnot responds is my issue. The same sellers that are known scammers still sell on there with no issues or reproductions . Also, Ive always thought the sellers on whatnot also take advantage of new users and collectors consistently. Severe up-charges on product and hyping up products that have little to no value just so they can sell their inventory off.
@RickInMaryland24 күн бұрын
It's a major problem is comics and Pokémon cards too. Rigged games and shill bidding are normal things over on Whatnot. I think eventually the feds will mount a case for the widespread illegal gambling on the site. I'm honestly surprised they didn't take notice when Blake Martinez was finally booted from the platform last year. That was a national news story for a day or two.

With your inventory/sku/not sku situation - It does not have to be an all or nothing project. I understand that your mind works in that way but that is the reason you are putting it off. That can be daunting. Things that are obvious - vcrs, lighthouses,etc - just put in their 'spot'.o need to sku. Something that has more than one option - mark it when you list it - ex. the halloween ray dunne mug, in kitchen items (KIT) or halloween (BOO). Then label those bins KIT BOO. If it is going into one of your small bins, log that SKU as you list it. Start with the new listings and as time allows (or your son gets time) grab a bin or a shelf and take care of those items. Again, everything in a small bin should be sku'd but only some items from shelf will need to be sku'd. Also, if you find a small item on a shelf tote (ex. that car emblem) move it to the bins and sku it. A section or shelf at a time and you will be done in no time and doing new listing at the same time means it will all be done and it will have become a habit. Doing small areas at a time will give you a sense of accomplishment without becoming overwhelming and taking you down a rabbit hole.

SMALLS STORAGE SOLUTION!! I use the CLEAR storage container boxes, the shoe storage size that i buy from the dollar tree. I label them A-Z so i will know it is my smalls. My garage bins are 1-50 and they are the large clear ones in the garage. I keep the smalls in the house in the room with my computer. You could just put them on the shelves you have right there. It makes it so much easier for me to find smalls.

I haven't listed an item in 3 weeks but on 100 items I am getting 4-5 sales a week just resisting my old stuff which takes no time and hasn't sold so usually needs a lower price anyway.

You are on to something with the smalls. I've tried to get where each "location" only has about ten items in it. My totes and drawers both have dividers in them now. So like Tote 127 Left=T0127L or Drawer 215 right= D0215R. Each Shelving unit has a number, each shelf has a letter designation and some shelves are divided with tape such as shelve 6, shelf level B section 2= S06B2 Has made it a lot better for me, a lot faster. Best wishes!
@ahalliday7623 күн бұрын
Two things: 1. You can go to settings and turn off notifications. Uninstalling was not necessary. 2. The key to not forgetting where you put things is when you put something somewhere whisper to yourself "I put X item in X location". Pause a second and just think about it. I probably have all 2,000 of my items memorized where they are at exactly.
@Monkeywrenchflips25 күн бұрын
Hay Dave, you should get some storage bins and label them. Then in your VENDOO (lol) create a custom tag to match your bin labels. Then just remember to tag it for whichever bin you put the item in.

I do not fuss over categories when I store my items, I fuss over space since it is finite. So, I use a SKU system. I label a shoebox for my smalls and put my smalls in a shoebox. They stack really nice, are sturdy enough for glass AND toys. I really love my shoebox system. SKU system is top dog. I know you hate it, but it is a huge game changer. When you are creating the listing for the item, choose a location/box/tote and just add the SKU in and store the item immediately, then hit list item or save for later if it is a draft and you are done. You do not have to touch it again until you go to pack it. It saves SO MUCH TIME and stress! I, too, have ADHD, but I do this and love it. I don't know your story about hating the SKU system, but it works. Some things in life have to have order. This is one of those things besides your accounting. Your business depends on it.

Numbers are infinite. Start by numbering all your boxes. T1, T2 ... for toys. E1, E2 ... for Electronics. Then make a cheat sheet of items you typically source by category, including the box # where you would put those things. Then, when you get new things, reference your cheat sheet before pisting & filing away. Accountants & Bookeepers "Log" things. Then add that number to your listing, "Log#T1" ... The public should understand & not be confused that things need to be logged to keep track of inventory. Personally, I'd also put that location box on my private inventory spreadsheet. But, I dont list things on ebay full time like you do. Best wishes!.

I also organize the same way but for items that I think I might have a hard time remembering where I put it I put the title or abbreviation of the category into the listing somehow, typically in the sku field in the description. So when I pull the item and I see "toys" then I know for sure where it is instead of C3 or whatever. Thanks for all you do!

Hey, Dave. To test trains; put together a few sections of straight track and take some alligator clips to connect to a power supply to power the track, making sure to use the correct voltage, and if it is DC, correct polarity. I'm not a FT reseller, but I classify children's books for a publishing company. I would say look at your classifications on a hierarchical level. For example, the highest level first. Raggedy Ann clock as an example: Primary level: Toys. If you have so many toys, you want to break those into secondary levels, or subgroups, you can do so, for example: Toys > Electronics; Toys > Plush; Toys > PVC Minis, etc. I guess you could also visualize "Departments" like if you found it in a retail store, where would you look? Hey, if I come to FL a few weeks in the winter, you can hire me (cheaply) to reorganize it all. I'm a nerd and love it LOL

I'd continue trying to refine the "where would Dave's brain put it" model. I wouldn't go back to a general sku (although didn't see how it was set up then) because like you said, when it's lost it's Lost. When an item could be in several categories, maybe typing out the category name (writing the word out will use a different part of the brain). WAIT, here you go, figure out all the categories you brain might put it, then put it in the first category Alphabetically!
