It's hard as it is for the kids in india, let alone for us adults...they dont even have easily accessible resources for full evaluation in case of adults, forget adhd coaching...the medication helps, therapy helps, but nothing beats focussed adhd coaching...i got my diagnosis only last year after having spent the last 12 years with 3 episodes of depression and anxiety...even then i was first diagnosed with OCD, and only two months later did i get my adhd diagnosis..

I am sure I have it too... I am going to pyschatrist tomorrow to get myself diagnosed. I am also a Indian.... It's really hard for Indian people to get psychological help and it's seen as a self afflicted condition .... The shame... Omg don't get me started on that.... Overall... I am taking a new step to improve my self... Plz pray for me ❤

@@srijanverma245 nope..... When I made that comment, I was already seeing a psychiatrist along with a psychologist to sort out my issues..... I had a history with that psychiatrist since I was a preteen... So i thought if I just explained to him that i might have ADHD.... He would understand it and treat my condition.... But it didn't went that way.... He denied my observations/findings and he thought I am being delusional and prescribed me anti-psychotic drugs........ I felt like giving up.... But i tried the psychologist..... He told me to just change my day to day routine and gave me time schedule to follow and he told me to pray 🙏🙇🙌 I was so frustrated and furious that I almost wanted give up.... And just continue on my life But I don't know why... But I looked up... Where can I find a adult ADHD assessment hospital..... Google showed me NIMHANS as the best result near me... But it's way too far and seemed very expensive As I was scrolling down the google results... I found a clinic near me (40km) has a psychiatrist from NIMHANS.... I felt hopeful and made an online appointment for VC. I explained to him that what I have been through so far... He listened to me carefully and told me to visit him in person I went there with my mom. We recapped our VC convo And he made me to fill out some forums and asked me and my mom about my childhood and family history .... Finally he concluded that..... I have ADHD predominantly inattentive type and might have BIPOLAR DISORDER so he started treatment right away. It's been 6weeks I feel much better

I was diagnosed 3 months ago, at age 52. I'm unable to take stimulants so Intuniv it is which helps w my focus. I'm struggling w getting a routine down, sleep schedule, and strategies to self-evaluate. self-regulate enough to effect significant lasting change and achieve consistent productivity. That itself only reinforces negative messages I tell myself especially after struggling all my life. Others don't understand ADHD and rather see it as a moral failing, or as me making excuses. So I signed up for workshop for ADHD self-strategy development help (4) 1 hr sessions over four weeks. It's very frustrating but at least I have a diagnosis now! That is the big rub in all of this!!! Being treated w meds and a dozen years of psychotherapy AS IF therapy for anxiety and depression was supposed to be the ONLY answer to help me. At least I can see that Intiniv helps my focus, from here on it is developing strategies to "manage" myself. 🤔☺

I thought atomoxetine takes 2-4weeks to be noticeable and its not a stimulant, so it shouldn't feel like the effect is wearing off after certain period of the day. Ashay's does look very hyperactive in the video, I'm not sure if the medication needs to be increased to a higher level. I'm not sure if the right dosage might make him sit still and will make his friends interpret that as a change in personality since they are not used to seeing him sit still and are used to seeing him being hyperactive.
@ADHDMastery
@ADHDMastery 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it does take time to work and yes it's not a stimulant. Halfway through the interview I actually forgot that he's not on a stimulant so that's why I ended up taking about them. I'm not sure if I heard correctly what he takes, so I could have misunderstood him. Only he will know what's working for him.
@JohnSmith-vd5ib
@JohnSmith-vd5ib 4 жыл бұрын
I believe he's saying that he takes 12.5mg Axepta, twice a day (25mg cut in half) by INTAS pharmaceuticals. Depending on people, atomoxetine has a half-life anywhere from 5.2 - 21.6 hours, so maybe he's a fast metabolizer? I'm also taking the same brand he takes (Axepta) and although it helps me all day, the best effect seems to be in the intial 5 - 7 hour period for me. I can still focus after the 5 hours but not as effectively as initial period I take the medication. I'm not sure if this is related to the fact that I'm taking a generic medication or that's just how atomoxetine works. On the official pamphlet of atomoxetine, it actually tells you to take it b.i.d (two times a day) and that's supposed to be the most effective way of taking the drug. Most physicians in Japan also uses the same guildline (b.i.d) when prescribing atomoxetine, which increases the drug tolerability and effectiveness. Only downside with b.i.d is the potential insomnia so it's not for everyone though. IIRC, there was a study that was comparing morning vs. late evening doses and the study concluded that morning dose was only 4% more effective. So it seems like what time of the day you take don't really matter too much. What matters the most is that you stick to taking the same dose of the drug at the same time each day in order to properly reach steady-state.
