ADHD leads you to: 1) Act on impulse. 2) Not resist distractions. 3) You are less able to think back about what you are doing - about the action that lies ahead. You cannot use your hindsight and therefore your foresight is gone. 4) You do not plan ahead. 5) You live in the moment. This is going to rob you of your sense of time.

Thanks so much for your honesty and humility. My son is struggling with exactly the same dilemma at the end of resitting year 2 at uni. I am not very good at helping as I too have ADD. Reasuring at least to know we are not alone. You certainly have a gift for creating u tube videos. I hope you find something really interesting that you can make a living from soon. Congratulations on getting your diploma. 🤗

I'm 40 years old with this and I have no internal voice to myself...no ability to problem solve or move forward. EVERYTHING in my life is done randomly and impulsively. It was so fun when I was younger...but even things like laundry, going grocery shopping, showering...everything is impulsive. I have no plan for life. I'm just living it...

I could visualize as a kid extremely well, and I had crazy good patience and memory and self-restraint, and thinking (overthinking) before I act. However I've always been bad at time, and I've always had windows where I could focus on something boring and get stuff done and most of the time I couldn't focus on something boring. I also had constant racing thoughts in my mind until 2 years ago when I read a book that changed that. And I've always been way more calm in chaos, and not as functional when it's calm.

I can't hear the voice in my head over the 2 or 3 songs that are playing at all times. The music cuts in and out all day. I even sing out loud at home. I'm an adult and have or had all of the issues he is describing. I self medicated when I was younger, so I can't be prescribed the medication that actually works, therefore I want to self medicate. All while trying to manage 2 ADHD children. Life can be chaotic to say the least .

For parents As a child who was diagnosed with ADHD in 1st grade. All the things he said are true however, all vary with each individual. The meds will help your kid focus in school but they will need therapy to learn how to process real life situations and the emotions that come with them. Please do not sleep on therapy! It’s more important than the medication itself if you ask me. But if u can afford both? Great! Also as a Christian and a 26 year old bow what’s really helped me have better discernment is Jesus/ my faith. Whenever I have a emotion im having trouble processing I pray about it and give it to God. So if y’all are a family of believers I strongly encourage you to encourage you kid on how Jesus is like a super hero and turns water to wine, raised the dead, and the same spirit is in us bc he died for our sins so just pray to him when you feel weak. 🦋 hope this helps lol♥️🥰 cuz it’s helped me not make impulsive decisions

14:20 BREAKING: Bombshell. Defusion... 4 C's Correlation is not causation. Coincidence or conflation? 1 in 5 is higher than 1 in 20 in general population so there is a calculable correlation. Multivariate analysis is required for a more definitive answer as to causation. What's interesting is that AI starts as a default as being psychopathic so these questions are key. A moral key to morality if you will.

The internal voice is too slow. Rather than "you should not do that", but instead "you shouldn't have done that"
@veteranghost4710
@veteranghost4710 2 жыл бұрын
That's inaccurate, from my understanding if you have ADHD you will have an internal voice, but you'll get it later than people without ADHD ( you mature 30-40% slower), on top of this, the mind's voice will have little to no control over your actions.

Is he the only one that thinks this stuff or do others agree? I only listen to the first couple of minutes. The stuff he is saying doesn't make sense to me. He says a baby doesn't have to learn language. That isn't true. That's why babies start off saying things like "Ba ba" for bottle. I have read that after a certain time period, it becomes harder for someone to learn a new language. If he was correct then learning a new language would be just as easy for an adult. I could believe that people have an easier or harder time with self-control based on their genetics, but that doesn't mean people don't need to learn it. For example, babies are not born knowing how to share. You have to teach them. Babies do not naturally say please and thank you. Long after they have learned to talk, the parent is still saying "what's the magic word?" to prompt the child to say please. If you take any child and don't tell him it is not okay to climb all over the dinner table, he is going to be climbing all over the dinner table. Let's say kid A has ADHD and kid B does not. You tell both kids 100 times over different occasions to sit still and not climb on the dinner table. Kid B might have stopped by now. But kid A will still be trying to do it. That doesn't mean that kid B did not need to learn. He did. But it also doesn't mean that kid a is a bad kid. He truly can't control it
@roknrolful
@roknrolful 3 жыл бұрын
i think that he is trying to tell that normal child learn laungage just by hearing it while adhd child must learn it by repeating it over and over again and trying realy hard
@brendalg4
@brendalg4 3 жыл бұрын
@@roknrolful every child does that. A kid without ADHD still has to work hard to learn. I think that is what causes the "terrible twos". The child gets angry because he can't express his thoughts. A kid with ADHD might need to work harder but a kid without it still needs to work hard

@@brendalg4 You completely misunderstood the lecture. Try again. Say you plant two seeds that grow to be trees. Tree A develops normal roots. Tree B has delayed root development. A storm is more likely to unearth Tree B. Similarly, non-ADHD children develop self-control as their brain develops. But ADHD children have delayed brain development. That's why adolescents are told to grow up and when they do grow up, magically they're fixed.
@brendalg4
@brendalg4 2 жыл бұрын
@@fkstudio5901 I agree with the tree example. I didn't listen to the whole lecture because the stuff in the beginning did not make sense to me. For example saying that a baby doesn't have to learn language. I believe both neurotypicals and neurodivergent need to learn language. It would have made sense if he said it takes one longer or is harder for them to learn but that isn't what he said
