Aiden was always about ultimatums- give up smoking because I don't date women who smoke. Give up your friendship with Big because I can't handle it. Marry me or else I'm leaving because I don't know if you'll ever not be mine...... and now- I can't step my foot back into that apartment again, so we can't be together. (sigh). I like Aiden, but I'm tired of his ultimatums. And this newest one- wait 5 years until my son is grown. Then when he's grown, it'll be you'll have to move to Virginia because I can't leave my grown son. Then, when she gets to Virginia, it's gonna be you have to get your own place because my sons would feel weird with you living here..... at least Big accepted her for her flaws and didn't put down ultimatatums on her to make her prove her worthiness to him.

“ marry me tonight or I’m leaving” is not an example of boundaries but of control. That marriage would never have worked. Pushing someone into a marriage to prove something is never a good idea. Big and Aiden were both flawed, and Carrie definitely is.
