Love the Prime X, absolutely my favorite long run training shoe. I don't feel tired at all after all my runs with this shoe, as it makes all my runs seem effortless.

More cushion is a great benefit as you mention on joints, as we age and continue to run I must admit in my early 50’s I appreciate the feeling of added protection. I enjoy trail running more for the simple fact of running on soft trails and enjoying the mountains, but in life you always can’t escape to the trails so road running is a must to maintain fitness, hence max cushion road shoes is greatly appreciated. As always have a great week and even better weekend everyone, stay healthy and safe…

I got my pare of Prime X in start of desember. i used them everyday out side. Only snow and ice on the road. but very cold ( -7 to - 12). And i love them so much. I can just keep running in them forever it feels like. but they still have issues with the laceing system in my opinion.

I have learned to love their shoe lineup, right now I switched from the rincon and ride14 to the Boston 10 and damn do I love light strike foam! Definitely took 30ish miles to learn to love them because I felt in the beginning I had to fight the shoe so hard during the initial break in but once that was done I love every run with them, new daily trainer. Btw you’re a freaking beast brother definitely watch your videos everyday I need some runners high

Thanks for another great video! Starting my 12-week plan for Boston marathon training this week and it's good motivation to see your paces because I'm going to try to run a 3:05 Boston and Chicago Sub 3 later this year with both being PB's 😁😁😁

NGL, as a casua I cant immediately notice any difference on shoes during winter temps. On my speedgoat 4s, i kinda notice something in the first 10-15 minutes but like you said, it could also just be me being cold which is probably what it is because in the middle of a run I'd try to think of what I feel on my feet and it is negligible. I dont run slower or faster because of a foam or shank/plate. I just move. Also I am a heavier than most runners as someone who squats a lot and has a history of competing in weightlifting. My neighbor has this shoe and I tried it on and I am waiting for it to get discounted at the end of the year bc it looks cool but feels great!

Thanks for the review, not much of a road runner but more of a trail runner. Just want to thanks the logic you approach, review and explain things. Not looking down at an illegal shoe but rather seeing it as a super, fast recovery training shoe! Hats off to you sir! Keep up the good work!

As a runner that runs outdoors unless it’s -20C outdoors, I’ve felt foam change as it gets colder. I will say though, it’s most discernible when the midsole is EVA. Of all the EVA midsoles I’ve tried, the Hoka Speegoats keep their pliability best. Very true though that non-EVA like Lightstrike Pro, PWRUN PB or a mix like Flightfoam blast is harder to feel a difference.
@kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
My main qualm when people talk about cold effect on foams is that they will cite or try literally freezing their shoes first (either in a freezer or left outside overnight). And in that case, of course there’s an effect. But that only sets the baseline. It’s the starting point from where research should be conducted. But it doesn’t answer anything.

To my experience, the Nitro infused foams from Brooks Hyperion Tempo and the Sketchers MaxRoad 5 , turn in to light bricks on anything below 4 Celsius.

I don't really mind the temperature so much (I've been running into the -15, -20C here in Montreal). What I'm finding really tough is running over mushy or softer snow, my HR is so much higher for a given pace and then my Garmin stuff goes crazy and downgrades my V02 max estimate, says that my training is unproductive etc. My ground contact time goes through the roof, my form feels sloppy. All together hard to get motivated for those runs.
@adamsouthard11552 жыл бұрын
Learning to ignore the Garmin's judgements is absolutely paramount. I've got the opposite problem here in Savannah, GA. During the summer it's 85 with 80% humidity - feels like 109. My pace goes down substantially. My heart rate goes up as my body tries to shed heat and Garmin says I'm unproductive and decreases my VO2 max. The Garmin software is cool in concept and definitely makes geeking out easier but I don't believe it's all that relevant or accurate outside fairly narrow environmental conditions.
@Kevgti52 жыл бұрын
@@adamsouthard1155 Yeah, I was looking in the app, w. new watches like my fenix 7, they say they are going to starting accounting for temperature and elevation, which is already a start. I think for me the annoying bit is going out for 2hrs basically hard effort and the watch tells me it's not improving my fitness. Like spoils the feeling of having complete a hard task. I would rather it just go "we cant evaluate this cause we collected data too far out of the norm"

So long as you’re not trying to win prize money or quality for the Olympic standard, I think the question becomes whether or not your race or training routes have a lot of turns or uneven terrain

Thx for this Kofuzi. Do u recommend this shoe or the New Balance Fuel Cell RC Elite V2? Just curious your thoughts on a better training shoe. Thx 🙏
@kofuzi2 жыл бұрын
if you're not sure or if you currently have zero carbon plated shoes, the answer is most likely RC Elite 2. the prime x is fun but it's quirky. and it's not going to be for everybody. I consider it to be in that very niche category of carbon plated trainer for people who already have one (or perhaps multiple) carbon plated option.
@s.jatighetchi90212 жыл бұрын
@@kofuzi thx so much for the quick reply. I’ve tried most carbon super shoes. The New Balance is currently expected to arrive soon. Honestly, so far the Adidas Adizero Pro 2 are my favourite. The Nike next% 2 are great also but wore out after 180 or so kms. I’m hoping the New Balance will be awesome and the next shoe to try will likely be Adidas Prime X. Btw, not great fan of Asics MetaSpeed Sky. Found it to be too stiff for my skinny body 😂. Thx again 🙏

I have some merino socks. Those can help. I also have some socks with Thermolite fibers in them. I like those a lot. If you're going to be running through snow, I generally prefer goretex shoes

Did the Prime X come out before the Adios Pro shoes? Or before the 2020 rules wee put into place to make things "fiar"? Find it odd Adidas would make a shoe that's illegal for competition....making their flagship race shoe a "training shoe" and the "2nd best" Adios Pro 3 the "race shoe". :) Be like trining with an Alphafly and raing with the Vaporfly :)) Do like how Adidas has kept their pricing "fair" or "reasonable". The Prime X being only $30 (Cdn MORE)....and the Adios Pro 3 less than the competing brands. Legalities aside....shoe run feel....the Adios Pro 3 (and 2...1 I thin) have a "missing" piece of rubber where the pinkie toe would be. Some say they notice this and have to make "adjustments" to their runnning. Yet the Prime X does not....I think you've run i both shoes. Is this a thing? :) Odd Adidas would do this to the Adios Pro shoes....take that little chuck of midsole/outsole out there... Illegal (for comp) shoes....since Adidas has the Prime X....I'd love to see Nike produce maybe in a LTD RUN the "Kipchoge Alphafly (3-plate)" just for the hell of it. So collectors can collect and/or run in them....for FUN....see if a 3-plate shoe really does make a difference over lets say the new NEXT& 2...Bring back the "EK Collection" either later this year or next year....or just offer the "EK colour way" on By You shoes...that is the only change to the shoes in 2020 that make them "EK" versions...(peg 37 and Alphafly)..

I have no doubt people may get some enjoyment from shoes that use them but the technology is an utter gimmick. Its a marketing ploy to differentiate themselves in the current market. Kofuzi if you had to guess what is more likely: Nike (or Saucony Asics Brook...) adopts circular rods into their super shoes instead of a full length plate moving forward or Adidas goes towards a full length plate.
