Parks, bars, schools... there were one set for Adidas workers and families, and another set for Puma workers and families. Even the cemetery was divided in half! And that loyalty went deep into the folks. Lothar Matthäus's loyalty to Puma, ingrained after his family had worked for them, was so unwavering, he almost didn't sign with Bayern München, because they were outfitted from head to toe by Adidas. He only signed after he was given express permission to wear his Puma boots by Bayern. He also had that same problem with Germany, but as he couldn't get any permission, he preferred to pay a fine for every game he failed to wear Adidas (some say Puma paid that fine).
