I loved the Boston 9, and apparently these are the trail version of them basically. I'd get them 100%, but the issue is most of my trails are soft ground and some mud, so the 2.5mm drop is something of a concern for me. Otherwise I'd be buying these without a doubt. Great first look video Chad, insightful and some personal opinions, love it.

Thanks Mark! These definitely remind me of a trail version of the Boston 9.

Fantastic shoes !! Light, responsive , protective for any dry rocky runs ! Soooo nice looking . No cons for me . Mid foot landing is perfect . This feeling is the best I felt in a trail shoe. If you love Boston ( I am) you will automatically love those new terrex speed ultra

I couldn't agree with you more! I've used this shoe on a couple 50k races and could not be happier with it!

Great first impression video! Looks like an interesting shoe! Not enough grip for my local trails, but great for others!

Most of the trails here in Colorado (I'll include NM, AZ, UT, and other states too) are hard packed single track, gravel, and sometimes technical. Rarely are they muddy (we don't get a TON of rain) or covered in loose vegetation/leaves. I do wish the lugs were 3mm-3.5mm instead but I think the shoes will still do great! Thanks for watching the video Steven!

those shoes look sick, nice aggressive thread and light weight... I been wearing hokas and altras lately myself

I really want to try a couple of the Hoka trail shoes. They're also lightweight and seem like they're really comfortable.

I love the look of it! I haven't had a pair of adidas in many years and never tried one of their trail shoes. Thanks for doing your first look video before you get them all muddy. Cant wait to hear your first impression. Are you going to break down your review like Seth into a first review and then another after 50 or so miles?
@SeeChadRun3 жыл бұрын
I've have/had a couple other Adidas trail shoes and road shoes, and they've done quite well. I'm really liking these new TERREX Race line of shoes too. There's something unique about them and they seem like they are designed/made well too. One thing I didn't mention in the video was the price. $160 US MSRP isn't the cheapest shoe but it also isn't the most expensive top quality shoe either. Luckily I got it 20% off with a coupon code). I'll wait until I get some actual miles in the Speed Ultras, preferably at least 50 before doing the full review. I wanted to get the first look video created ASAP because as I was doing research on the shoe, I found very little videos and photos about it.
@cdigdawg3 жыл бұрын
@@SeeChadRun you mentioned the price in your video description, it is a bit steep but if you get 1000 miles out of it, then that won't matter. Good idea getting a video up quickly, that should drive up some views since there are few reviews on YT yet. you might also consider a first impression video for the same reason.

Finally someone got this shoe to review it 🤩 I have waited weeks for this 👏👏👏 now go eat some miles In them 🥳

Totally! I kept trying to do research to see if somebody had done a review and wasn't finding much at all. I'm really happy that I was able to get a pair and I'm happy with my purchase as well. Like you said, time to get some miles in them!
@TimGrose3 жыл бұрын
Just done my own review of these after 50 miles. Am liking them so far for up tempo runs on fairly firm trails. Quite a low to the ground and racy feeling with reasonable amount of cushioning that is OK for bit of road too. Not so good for slower or muddy/wet runs for me as feet get soaked through first puddle. As mentioned kind of an off road Boston.

Have you run in the shoe through or down real decent mud yet? I'm wondering whether the lug depth is deep enough? Great video Chad, new sub! 👍
@SeeChadRun3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a chance to use this shoe on the trails yet. That said, I don't think it will do substantially well in muddy conditions because the lug depth isn't that deep. I have used the adidas TERREX Speed LD (yes, it has speed in the name but they are otherwise not really related). The Speed LD has similar lug depth although the lugs are spaced out a little bit differently. I have also used the Speed LD shoe in muddy conditions and it performed just OK. Otherwise, it excelled in all other conditions, and I imagine the Speed Ultra performing at least as well if not better but with a better midsole and upper. Actually, because of how the lungs are designed on the Speed Ultra, I imagine it will do extremely well on hard packed trails, rocky and otherwise technical trails, groomed and gravel trails, and wet conditions as long as it isn't muddy.

And thank you for subscribing! we've been getting a lot of snow here in Colorado so I'm just waiting for the trails to try out a bit before taking the Speed Ultras out for their debut run. If you're on instagram, you can give me a call there and hopefully I can provide an update on how the shoe performs. @see_chad_run

So tempted to get a pair, just need one trail shoe and this could be the one, only doubt is weather the grip is good enough in the wet?
@SeeChadRun3 жыл бұрын
I've used the TERREX Speed LD and TERREX XT GTX trail shoes prior, both have Continental rubber (with different tread patterns) like on the Speed Ultra. On both of those shoes, the grip is great, even in the wet.

Are you referring to comparing the Speed Ultra with the Speed LD? They're both fairly lightweight trail shoes but it's my understanding and perspective that the Speed Ultra is a completely different shoe. I view the Speed LD as a good trainer. It also cost much less. The Speed Ultra is more premium shoe (materials and design) and is also geared a little bit more for racing. Thanks for watching the video! Once the trails dry out a bit, I'll be taking the Speed Ultras out to get them dirty!

Hi! What's your size and how much do these shoes weigh in your size?
@SeeChadRun3 жыл бұрын
I wear US size 9.5 and went true to size when ordering the Speed Ultra shoes. I don't know what my size weighs (I don't have a scale) but I believe adidas reference size is men's size 9.
