They are ok for shorter distance up to about 50km, but there is something in the toe bumper that catches the top of my toes on the downhills so I don't use them, I prefer the pursuit.

is this a lesser known 100mile race?
@SeeChadRunКүн бұрын
I would say so. There are less than 100 participants between both the 100 and 50 milers. Despite it being lesser known, the race director does a great job and it's a worthy race.
@LexiaBoo23 сағат бұрын
@@SeeChadRun oh wow! It did look like there weren’t that many runners but that’s still surprising! No wonder they were able to give you a bunch of stats of how you did afterwards, and why they were grateful you chose them for your first 100.. now that I think about it, doing a race like theirs does seem like the most ideal for one’s effort on a first 100 compared to others like Leadville where you risk DNF from the strict cutoffs
@SeeChadRun23 сағат бұрын
@LexiaBoo Totally! This race had a 40 hour cutoff. Still, because of its difficulty, about 1/3rd of the 100 miles DNFed.

My suggestions or tips would be to not underestimate the second climb between miles 14 to 18, save a little bit of energy for the downhill to the finish line, and enjoy all of the views! Wish I could run it this year but, I just finished a 100 mile ultra a week and a half ago (UTE 100 video is also on my channel right now!) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYbEmWxrosd4Z6ssi=oYik6luO9p1UD0f0

I was going to order these, but rei had the MTN racer 3, but didn’t like the aggressive arch and toe spring. The person at the store says that the pursuit is a much better shoe than the racer but of course I couldn’t try one on so I was just curious if the arch and the front end feels about the same.
@SeeChadRun9 күн бұрын
The arch and the toe area do feel very similar, although from what I recall, it seems that the Pursuit 2 had a slightly more aggressive arch but it's marginal. The insoles are slightly different and in the Pursuit 2 the insole is higher quality and doesn't retain water helping it to release water better.

Very impressive! I found you channel a handful of months ago and am loving it. I'm also a Colorado runner. I'm running my first ultra (trail 50k) in three weeks and I'm nervous as anything. My training has been good with all weeks over the past 2-3 months having 30 miles or more. This last month I've really been pushing it with 35-44 miles each week and 3-6kft of vert. I'll have a total mileage of 44 this week, including my 21 mile trail run planned tomorrow morning.

I ran in the Topo MTN Racer 3 trail shoes. They actually worked great until about mile 70 when I developed a blister under the balls of my feet (first my right foot then later my left). Perhaps having a shoe with a little more underfoot protection would have been useful. Looking at the shoes after the run, I can tell the midsole took a beating but otherwise it's a great shoe!

Great job! I ran it this year too. Also my first 100. I got bad achilles tendon issues on mile 60, thanks to my footwear, which slowed me down a lot. Finished 15 minutes before the cutoff.

Regardless of when you finished, that's still an amazing accomplishment! Huge congrats!!!
