Great point by Mrs. Wing about when too much change can be a bad thing. I remember the Nike hyperdunk and hyperfuse that released in 2010 having the perfect blend of soft phylon and zoom to give you an amazing cushion for the price. I just pulled out both my beat to shit pairs and they're more comfortable and responsive then my current Zoom Rize. Both the following models had pretty hard phylon that wasn't the same. I would be a huge fan of a well received model just staying in the production for as long as it's popular. If they can do it with the air monarch, they can do it with anything.

3:10 Fun fact: when Adidas initially released my favorite running sneaker ever, the Supernova glide 8, the rubber had so much durability it was easily the greatest investment in footwear I had ever made. The subsequent pair that I got of the glide 8 (same model) were so wimpy compared to the first. Feel free to call me crazy, but I swear there was a difference. They must've made a trade off for grip vs durability--after all, grip is still providing value but will also require your consumer to by another pair sooner. After all, boost foam doesn't really bottom out, so midsoles won't be the reason for a replacement. Sucks, but it's a smart move by Adidas, if I'm not off base on this.

Sounds a little cork board, but I wouldn't put it past people who know how to make money down to science.

@paulandreotti16394 жыл бұрын
@@blackmanwhitesuit The main problem is we don't really know what does go to the bottom of our shoes. When I buy tires and I get something like the Michelin Sport Cup 2s, I know I'll get nice, grippy performance, no tread in 6 months and a grinning salesman waiting for another $1600. I'll take "regular," all-weather, daily driving tires. My Adidas Terrex boots have only gone close to flat in the outside, rear corners--I've had them for nearly 5 years and I have walked 2 miles in them, 5x a week to work for nearly a year, plus countless landscaping jobs and a little hiking. Once again, Continental rubber. In my opinion, it's like pick-up trucks and sports cars, different rubber for different jobs. I just wish we had options to choose from.

@@majin88 Oh, damn. The shoe I have, the Glide 8, has EVA on top of Boost since it can be unstable. I figured it was getting a little firmer because it's technically 1/4 EVA.

Stumbled over this review by chance, but happy to see that someone points out Continental rubber is for grip and not durability. As for UB 19 vs 20 the new cage design made a huge difference for me, because with the 19 the lower front of the cage stretched too much forward and I felt it digging into my forefoot when laced up which made them uncomfortable to wear, so I skipped them. So glad the 20 had the angled cage front like the older UBs again. Still quite a heavy shoe though. If you like the boost feel, try Reebok's Floatride Energy running shoes, basically same stuff but way lighter.

I had to return my 20's yesterday after 3.5 weeks =( because the continental rubber wore out sooooo damn quickly + the lateral forefoot flattened out within inside the shoe. The cage of the 19 traps sweat whereas the 20 does not. The 20's outsole thickness is slightly thinner than the 19 and for me the cushioning feels a tad bit softer than the 19. If you remove the insoles you will also see the difference in design between the two shoes.

I like the fact that the Ultraboost 20 is less stretchy. So I'll take it over the 19s in that point. And as wide footer, the additional stitching at the lateral side helps contain my foot better than the 19. I went TTS for both the 19 and 20. Even though it's longer length-wise, the shape of my foot fits better at tts. I agree that performance wise it's the same. But the little changes favored me. So for me, it's the same performance with little improvement and I'll take it. 20 > 19. That's just my perspective.

On the other hand, the UB 4.0 fits perfect with no heel slippage whatsoever. I'm assuming because the UB20 has little differences compared to the UB19, I'd still get the same problem. 😔
