This Movie yes. Black Knight Faust is based upon Darth Vader. Also Machine Empire's spacejet seen on LaMetal is based on Imperial Tie Figters. Also in PS1 Game (Matsumoto Reiji 999: Story of Galaxy Express 999) there's similiar character with halberd Tetsuror has to shoot him out. and that's a boss level character. I THINK Last Boss even.
