Ahead of Cannes 2024 appearance, Aditi Rao Hydari celebrates the Heeramandi success with us, the famous Gajagamini walk in Saiyaan Hatto Jao and reflects over playing benevolent yet fiery characters in her career thus far.
Bhansali's digital debut is a fictional series on Netflix set against the Indian independence movement against the British Raj in the 1940s. It revolves around the tawaifs living in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore (current day, Pakistan). The scheming Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala) rules over an elite house of courtesans - but a new rival threatens her reign as rebellion brews in British-ruled India. Principal actors also include Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sonakshi Sinha. Also actors Taha Shah Badussha, Adhyayan Suman, Shekhar Suman and Fardeen Khan.
Aditi Rao Hydari is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Born into the royal Tyabji-Hydari family, she made her film debut with the Malayalam film Prajapathi (2006). She went on to have supporting roles in Hindi films, such as the dramas Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011) and Rockstar (2011), horror film Murder 3 (2013), thriller Wazir (2016), and period drama Padmaavat (2018).
