Absolutely. We OWE him the time he needs to get back to where we know he can be. His 17/18 season is one of the best seasons by any goalkeeper. Golden glove winner with the 5th highest amount of saves in the league, and by far the best xG for goalies in Europe. The rest of the top 5 regarding clean sheets were outside the top ten in saves. Ederson, who had 16 clean sheets(second most), only had 58 saves(compared to De Gea's 115). Absolutely unreal.

He was very very good for us. But he has been mediocre for the last 2-3 seasons only sporadically showing the same form. Now that we have a readymade replacement in the form of Deano and De Gea can fetch us some extra funds as well atm, he should be sold. Its for the greater good. Emotions won't get us the title.

@@06koti do you not realize that Dean Henderson is not a ready made replacement. All you have seen is him perform in an established team with established mentality and ESTABLISHED DEFENCE. Manchester United is a team and transition and not the place for a young goal keeper right now. He has still not played top level football and will not automatically reach expectations. De Gea himself is playing a new buildup system. Therefore De Gea will still be goalkeeper and the conversations for Dean Henderson will only start at the end of 2020/21 season

I'd started following United since 2011 and man it's been one emotional journey since then. David De Gea when he arrived at OT and that first league game against Wigan, you saw the nerves. The Blackburn game was a horror show for him. But the resilience to fight back against all the shit that he got was beyond remarkable. Stayed on top of his game for a good 4-5 seasons on the bounce. Then Deano came into the picture and after mistakes for Spain and United, it only solidified Henderson's spot as #1. I personally have nothing against Deano and in fact I want him to thrive at United too. But then to see De Gea back is an amazing feeling too. Hopefully we continue to see the best of De Gea and hopefully Deano follows suit.
