A review of the American DJ Mega Tri Par Profile. This review focuses on the output and color mixing of the fixture. Also, I compare it to a 10mm LED fixture, specifically the Chauvet SlimPar 56.

Hello, I picked up a SlimPack 56 as part of my starter lighting setup. I've been looking into expanding and am looking at the ADJ Mega Par profile as they come in 4 packs and 8 packs, without the controller, and are more reasonably priced. I've come across the tri-led version and they have 4 packs of the ADJ Mega Tripar Profile as well. I am wondering what you think about using them together, and will colors at least be close? I'm thinking of keeping the SlimPar 56's for wash lighting, and then using the ADJ lights as the uplighting. Also, I hope to add a Chauvet Obey40 with built in D-Fi wireless soon, along with a pair of Freedom Tri-LED lights. I'm hoping that the Freedoms will pick up the wireless and then let me add wired DMX lights to the output, allowing an easy way to jump a doorway for instance, but letting me use regular lights and not making me buy a lot of the wireless lights. Hope to clear that part up soon. Should the tri-led lights all work OK together? Any input would be most appreciated!

Great job! Can you daisy chain slimpar & mega tripar with a 3 channel controller?

From Glenn at ADJ in response to my inquiry about wireless fixture master/slave compatibility: Thank you for your interest. Since many fixtures have different internal software, there will be some performance problems with trying to master/slave different fixtures. I think you would be best served by using several MegaTripar Profiles as their own system with a master/lave function. If you want to use a Wireless Remote to control then the only one you can use is the ADJ LED RC. If you can use a wired remote the RGB3C will control the lights. You can do a master/slave or give all of the lights in the chain the same DMX Address and the controller will operate as if you had only 1 fixture but it will control them all and they will all do the same thing at the same time.
