It's a passion project made by true lovers of the format hoping to capture why VHS holds such a special place in so many different people's hearts. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s and vhs had a massive impact on my childhood so did collecting movies now on dvd vhs and blu ray and now in 4K

I still collect VHS now and then and aside from having two standard VHS VCR's (one by Emerson and a far better one by JVC with a flying erase head for crisp edits), I found and bought four Super VHS ET VCR's from local thrift stores for $10 to $15 each. I also have four VHS camcorders and two VHS-C camcorders and in fact, yesterday night, I played the original 'Shaft' movie starring Richard Roundtree via a Panasonic Reporter VHS camcorder connected to an LED TV for some retro fun. :)

I heard the first VHS movie came out in 1976, and DVD was available in 1997. The majority of the VHS market was across the 80's and 90's. My childhood. I'm a Millennial, and we were the VHS generation.

A friend gave me a Panasonic svhs player. Still works fine. Benn transferring stuff I recorded and play prerecorded vhs when I'm in the mood. My 4th player in 20 yrs from a friend or co-worker.

I didnt like how vhs was mostly in pan and scan and almost all the vcr's had mono sound I got laserdisc as soon as I could then DVD so I could see and hear the hole movie

40:00 The stories about "girls vs video tapes" are just so... insane. I mean, how stupid a girl must be to leave a guy because she's upset about him collecting VHS? Collecting this stuff is expensive. If a guy gets so many tapes it means he has money. He has a large place to live becuase he needs to keep them somewhere. Form a woman's perspective a VHS collector is a guaranteed provider! And with that kind of attachment - possibly a guaranteed faithful partner! So I'll ask again: how stupid a girl must be to leave a guy because of his VHS collection..?

Old horror tapes are like the equivalent of obscure Psych/Garage Rock records for vinyl collecting or 1920s/30s Blues/hot jazz/hillbilly records to 78rpm collecting.

VHS big con . Tape is rust in simple terms. Rots away. Awful Pan and Scan. Yes I have acouple for the cover / history. Large clam shell of Road Warrior, Taxi Driver, Easy Rider ( First tape I bought for 50.00 in 1980.) VHS was crap then crap now.
