So Lynn and Joe Bought me an Antique Table saw for the shop. It needs some minor attention to get it just right so I thought I would make a video showing how I do it.

I have this saw with the original cast iron casing motor and a newer version of this saw as well. The original motor on the “100” weighs about 40 lbs. which helps to keep tension on the belts in all blade heights. The newer saw with the newer lighter weight motor like the one on your saw has a spring behind the motor which puts pressure against the back of the motor and keeps the belts at the right tension as you raise and lower the blade. Yes, the bolt on the slotted motor bracket needs to remain loose to allow the motor to rotate/tilt forward and backwards as you raise and lower the blade.

This was my first Y T video today and it realy saved my weekend. Thanks for sharing Cyrus, good that someone gives honour to these old masterpieces of craftmanship. I proudly saved some old hand tools from my grandfather, who was an architect and master carpenter by education, born back in 1896.(Yes, Im 72 myself now).

I needed this video! I bought a nice carftsman 100 table saw in great shape. And it was just a 1/16 of square. I didn't want to unbolt anything with out being sure I was loosening the right bolts. Now I know! Thank you!

There are also 4 bolts that hold the cast iron top that can be lossened slightly and you can bump the table into square with the blade.

Ive got a late 40's Delta Rockwell 9" tablesaw with nearly identical carriage and arbor mechanisms, trunions etc. I used a dial test gauge mounted to the mitre bar, got her within .025 or so which is as well as i could expect for a saw older than anyone i know! Same four bolts too. Im in the process of riggin a DIY fence right now, then im gonna flip her over and replace the bearings, should be fairly well revitalized at that point. Im planning to work it hard too!

Your trunnion and thus blade were out of parallel with the miter slots because with any looseness at all in the trunion mounting bolts, the motors weight through the drive belts will ALWAYS pull the front on that side to the right.(as seen from the rear). It is my guess we rarely find one the other way out of line.

My Grandpa had a Craftsman table saw from the late forties / early fifties. That was the best saw I've ever used. My Dad , a former employer and my wife's grandpa all had Craftsman saws from the seventies. Biggest piles of junk I've ever used. I hope to find an old one like that. Great save !

Yea My friend called me from the garage sale where she found it and said there were 2, and described them to me. The other was newer, I told her to get this one. Same model my dad had when I was growing up.

I inherited a Craftsman table saw from my grandfather that was sold in 1956. I got the sales receipt and manual along with the saw. It works great and stays adjusted just fine, but the fence is not the best.

The fences on the older ones were never great but if adjusted the way I use in the video they will at least cut accurately.

Uncle Cy, i just got a "100" craftsmen, can a person put a link belt with the pulley, and a riving knife on it? If so how would that be done? Is there a kit?

I just bought a 100, it runs smoother than a new one. Where can a person find the extensions for this? Or will a different models fit?

If you can drill holes you can make anything fit. There's just holes in the sides of the table for holding the wing extensions on so you have to hold them on with nuts and bolts. I found a wing from somewhere and two holes lined up. I just drilled the third where it needed to be. You clamp the wing in place then use a transfer punch to transfer the hole positions. You can put something on top of the table to clamp the wing to. You're not going to be using the saw while you're attaching the wing. So it's OK if there's something up there. Once the wing is bolted on it'll hold itself on then.

Did you check that the blade was straight, it looks a bit twisted to me.
