Thanks. Saved the day. I´m using my 3D printing to build some face shields to health workers. Murphy´s Law...my Y axis driver blow up. I have bought a new one and your video save me to setup it properly

Very nice explanation...I have a question...which formula did you use to calculate the max current on your motor? I have the same shield and the same drivers whit a nema 23..thanks

Did the drv8825 work fine for nema23 ??
@mattivirta9 ай бұрын
@@A2Zfarmsupdate only if nema 23 motor use less than 2A current, if use nema 23 motor 3 or 4A current need external stepper motor driver, etc. DM 542 etc, who can use 3A motor or 4A motor. drv driver can maximum use 2A to motor, if motor max current have more need external driver and take out drv8825 driver.
@grahamduke69094 жыл бұрын
Do you need to adjust the current on the drivers if you have an adjustable power supply? My stepper motors only need about 9V and I can adjust the power supply to that. I’m fairly new to this btw!
@mattivirta9 ай бұрын
stepper motor not have important what volt use, biggest better, i use etc, nema 17 motor 9volt 2A moto 46 volt and less 2A current. motor have only important current not setting more than motor maximum current have or burn motor.

Hi, thanks for the explanation, is it possible to connect two steppers for y axes with only one of this drivers?
@23fields6 жыл бұрын
if you have 4 drivers and the arduino with the same shield as he has there are pins on there to clone the axis makes the driver thats sitting on the red block work with the one you set it to. but still requires matching the current & reversing the stepper harness

Hello friend, I'm newbie I have motor stepper nema 23 103h7124-1041 (sanyo denki) unipolar DC 3.25 amp, but i make to bipolar. I will wiring it to drv8825 with arduino shield v.3. I used power supply 24v 20amp My question is calculate Vref, Imax=Vref*2 So Vref =Imax/2 Vref=1.625 Is it okay for drv8825? Thanks you,
@franciscobagoros84797 жыл бұрын

motor max current 3,25A ok, you need external motor drivers not can use drv8825 driver. etc, DM 544 drivers, and dip switch adjust max driver current to motors, example if you motor max current have 3,25A driver need setting dip switch near less 3,2 maybe about 3A max current to driver. then motor run best. and volt need be area cnc dhield near max 36 volt, about 30 volt power supply have good.

im pretty sure you just fried those drivers. under NO circumstance should you tell people not to add power without steppers plugged in. Sure way to fry those drivers.
@MillRightCNC4 жыл бұрын
You're completely wrong Christopher. We've been doing this for years and have sold thousands and thousands of these drivers with our machines. We would know.
@TheDIMONART5 ай бұрын
You can fry it only when put too much voltage, max voltage for CNC Shield is 36V. Or disconnect stepper motor during its work. You can't damage the drivers when connecting power to board without motor connection.

basic have this driver working only less than 2,2A max current motors nema 17 etc, if use nema 23 motor 3-4A current need external stepper motor driver etc, DM 544 who can use more amper. TB 6600 have worst driver many has blow this broken, better use DM 5xx drivers, numbers mean what max current can use.542 max 2A 544 max 4A i use 556 max 6A my nema 23 4A motors. you need know what motor max current have very important run motor less than max current and near max current 4A motor better run 3,8A max current setting not burn motor. and have best torque motor, if use too low current motor not run good or no have torque move.
