Thank you! I hope I can try this out and fix this on our spinet. I Subscribed and will binge-watch all of your videos; you are a great teacher.

Thank you for a informative video. I know 'zero' about piano repair and maintenance but this video was very well made and I feel like I've learned something.

Does this also fix the irregularities of key heights? The white keys on my Gulbransen spinet look a little uneven from the front- some are slightly lower or higher than others.

It is possible on some spinet piano with very light keys, that this adjustment will in some cases change or correct difference in key height, but in most cases the irregularities in key height is corrected by adding or subtracting punching under the key at the balance rail pin. See our video " Piano key Leveling" under Piano Regulation Videos.

@@howardpianoind Thank you very much. I adjusted all the keys like this, and actually it did fix most of the irregularities. There are a couple of keys that are going to need leveling per that other video.

I took up the lost motion on a German 1925 spinet the other day, the keys ended up looking like sharks teeth IE not level, so just went back reversed a little to level keys everything came out pretty much fine solved double hitting and non blocking just ok , with instuition and skill amazing what can be achieved on a service call.

Question about Spinet Pianos: Is there a way to somewhat easily access the hammer flange screws (for tightening) without having to remove the entire action? I encountered a piano where there were two loose hammers and I am 99% sure it is because those screws are not tight but I could not even see the hammer flanges let alone get to them for all of the stuff in the way. I am having a hard time finding any information on this but since you have a few spinet videos...I thought perhaps you might know! This was on a Yahama brand spinet. The drop stickers (square wood dowels) were attached to the keys via some sort of a rod that stretched across the key tops instead of via rubber grommets.

PolarPalmWV you ever fix your spinet?
@bakuliusangel500g7 жыл бұрын
My rubber parts (grommets*?) are all out of whack. (On the video) the green things are all out of alignment but when I try and make it so they have little to no movement between the keys and hammers, the note will play but it won't stop. What do I do?

Very straightforward approach with little need for further explanation or more in-depth discussion. Your Spinet uses the same Pratt & Read action as does mine. Hoping its not as pointless an effort as most everyone suggest, since this company has one of the worst reputations amongst new investors in the vintage piano market. I'm not stating facts here, just opinions from people who consult Fine's Value Guides. Not certain how one of the oldest American Companies in Connecticut, with a long history of piano action manufacturing may get such a bad rapp. Recall tales of the Gibson's in the 70's & 80's being poorly made after their purchase by RCA, and the Executive's cut quality control standards. Its here say by a select collector group. I just want to learn how to fix my Console for my purposes of playing. Thanks for all your help. Warmest regards.
