Adjusting MXR Talkbox Tube Size

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been struggling holding that tube in my mouth. I have looked up tutorials on how to use the talkbox or tube position and no one has touched on modifying the tube size. Thank you

I’ve had my talk box for over 2 years and it never fit right in the mouth im gonna try this out for sure does it make it easier to pronounce the words cause that’s my main issue with the bigger tube

@@singerlover37 it makes it much easier for me! I was getting issues with the tube rubbing against my inner cheek also and causing irritation. So this little fix helps to correct that as well! Let me know if it worked out for you.

The tube that came with mine is about 0.57 inches outer diameter, and about 0.43 inches inner diameter

Hey i just got the same one from Amazon delivered today and im having issues keeping/holding the tube comfortably in my mouth, i am a full denture wearer and did not forsee this being an issue but it is unfortunately one, i think this idea may work for me im going to try it out, i haven't seen anything online or any forums that speak on the issue of using a talkbox but also having dentures

Hey Chris. I've seen a skinnier attachment for the end that slips in. I think it might come with the Talk Star super expensive box? Have you seen these? Obviously not as big a sound but looks more comfortable. Ron

Thanks for the info, just looked it up now. First off, that price tag is pretty hefty! But it's definitely a more sophisticated type of equipment. From some videos I see, the tube does look softer. I think that's really the main issue on the MXR because having to apply so much pressure to press down on the tube is stress on the jaw.

This. You might have found this vid. Stupid expense. I think it's just louder actually with a big speaker. But I like the skinnier extension Mr. Talkbox is using. Hey Chris.Thanks! Just got my Banshee. And I've started learning. How can I get that end of the tube straight? I'm also struggling holding it my mouth. I think cause it's curved. Thanks Ron

Ron, thank you! To straighten that tube out, you're going to want to dip it in some almost-boiling water only for a few seconds, then take it out and find a way to either weigh it down or keep it extended until it cools. That should help to get rid of some of that curl! Just be sure not to warp the end that inserts into the larger tube so it doesn't mess with the fit
