youtube is the definition of super pretentious so, good to see something that is totally the opposite

This makes me want to never use a limiter anymore. It's crazy how obvious this is and I really recognize artifacts that I have in my own music. The optimal example is great

Good video, the artifacts were plainly audible. Thanks.

Hello Sofia and thomas ... Maybe I'm wrong, but you don't talk much about clippers... However, it seems to me that nowadays, rather commercial and very popular productions use clipping excessively... What do you think about that ? Should we push much further, the use of this kind of tool in order to gain in loundness for example ? If you practice this... would you have any advice to give us ? Many thanks for all your work on youtube .

Hello, thanks for the video. I have a question that bugs me a long time now, and the question might sound stupid first. So, when we talk about loudness matching between a compressed and uncompressed version, WHICH parts do we actually match? Should the compressed version peak at the same max as the clean, so you have all uncompressed stuff louder? I guess there is no right answer, I just wonder since it is rarely talked about.

That's a great question! It depends on if you want to hear how the compression changes the sound at the current moment, or if you want to hear what it does to the overall dynamics. To hear how the sound changes "locally" you need to match the loudness at the moment you're switching, either by ear or by measuring for example the short-term LUFS. To hear the more global dynamic changes you can match using the integrated LUFS for the whole song, which will also give a hint how the master will compare to the mix or to other music in a loudness normalized context (like Spotify etc). /Thomas

Great video! Would it be possible to make a video where you show the differences between compression release settings? Thanks :)
