Great vid. Very clear! You can clearly hear the difference. Love it. After hearing the examples, I would've liked you to expand on how you go about finding the musical release time. What's the process? What are you listening for? Should the release be fully back to zero by the time the kick or snare hits again? Or should it be still releasing slightly? I'd love to see a video where you go through 4 different song examples and choose a release time for them all on the fly in real time, and just talk us through what you're listening for and what made you choose it Cheers! This is definitely one of the best mastering channels out there. Definitely deserves more views

a few weeks later I listen to this video again .. 1) my opinion on compression has changed 2) I hear the differences better 3) often my previous mixes had this type of error ... and I didn't like the result without knowing why !!!! So what else can I say? thank you Sofia and Thomas it's a real pleasure to have crossed your virtual path. from France

Great explanation on why compressors sound different from one another, even with similar settings. I never understood that.

it's great thomas. It's a very clear explanation, but difficult to hear and put into practice. Of course i 'll have to make mistakes to hear all these nuances. On the other hand I find the words you give for these auditory sensations very fair and didactic... we feel that you know how to teach. bravo Sofia and Thomas from the north of our planet. my respects to you.

Thanks! Yes, hearing compression is difficult but it gets easier. Just keep practicing. 🎶 ☀️ /Thomas

Thanks for the great videos! It would be great if you could also provide an example of how and with what kind of tools you would actually compress the material.

We don't really know, we're aiming for early/mid 2025 but it could be later or earlier. It already works perfectly for our workflow, but there are a few things to fix to make it work properly for a wider audience. /Thomas
