I use a straw for getting my top dead center, "McDonald straw" a little stiffer.

@@fishinginkayaks that's a great idea! And you don't have to worry about it hurting the cylinder or the bore!

Extreme novice here - great video…. As another I wasn’t sure of “where to turn the motor”… kinda understand now. My question is: there seems to be oil leaking around the right side OHV valve cover….worth tackling or take it to someone?.. Regardless - THANK YOU - great teacher /great approach!

Thank you so much for watching! If it looks like a valve cover leak I myself would for sure tackle it myself. Just unbolt the valve cover and clean the mating surfaces and install a new gasket. I'd be sure to check the valve cover for cracks in case the cover has been over torqued at some point. Other than that it's a pretty easy process

Great video my friend would a 757 be the same clearance as the 737?
@SecondhandFarms Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Yes .004-.006 is pretty well the standard for all kawasaki engines. They offered 3 engines for the 757s 2 25HP models and a 27HP but all 3 set the same. I hope that helps and thank you so much for watching!

Hey,great easy to follow video. I have the same mower here that will randomly quit under load but fires back up by pulling the choke. It also backfires a bit. I have changed fuel pump,and pickup,fuel filter and also new plugs. I just set the valves this morning… any ideas? I’m wondering if it maybe has a weak coil.

Thank you for watching! I see. Ya that sounds about like the next possibility.

Gotta keep an eye on the push rods and valve guides the valve guides work there way out and acts like a bent valve causing it to bend the push rods

How are you turning over the motor?
@SecondhandFarms Жыл бұрын
Just rolling it by hand it turns pretty easy with both plugs out of it.

Sorry I should be a bit more specific. Where specifically are you turning it at? Do you have a shot of where I need to turn? Thanks.
@SecondhandFarms Жыл бұрын
It's ok. No I don't have a shot of it but on these series of kawasaki engines they have pulleys on the front and back of the engine. Both connect to the crankshaft. On this engine I actually grabbed the pulley on the front of the engine because it is easier to get to. It has a serpentine belt running to the hydrostats the rear pulley has the electric clutch that operates the deck belt.

We have a 737 and a 757

They are great machines only complaint I have is how much debris gets in the cooling fins on the horizontal engines
