Hi Kieun, I follow several vloggers. Most are Korean, I myself am not Korean and not American. I just wanted to say to you that of all the vloggers I watch I find you the most genuine and I appreciate that. Love your vlogs. Admitting to loneliness is brave, believe me: the world is full of lonely people. I have a son and a daughter, both live on their own in Europe. I am in South America. They often talk to me about the loneliness. It pains me as their mother. It shouldn’t be that way and all I can do for them is pray and keep encouraging them. Wishing you the best, you are loved by God. I will also pray for you. Lots of ❤

Hey Kieun! My husband and I just moved to LA from Chicago back in July. I totally relate to you on the loneliness that settles in after the initial excitement/stress of moving. If you ever want a buddy to explore K-town or any neighborhoods with, I'm down! It can be hard making friends here so I understand the mental battle with initiating and putting yourself out there.

Hi Kieun! I experienced the same when I came back to my hometown after living in another country for a while. It was so weird, it seemed to me like everyone even spoke a different language, everything looked so different and I felt so lonely. But please, cheer up! Remember that adjusting to a new place is not a new thing for you, you've already done that perfectly in Korea. I'm really shocked how you managed to set up all that furniture alone! 🙂 Go out as much as you can, call your parents and friends to feel their love, and make more videos for us 🤗 You know sometimes we are looking forward to having a rest and when we actually have some free time we don't know what to do with it :) You'll be ok, it just takes a little time❤ (Sorry for such a long comment😊)

I'm also currently going through this phase of extreme loneliness at certain times and it does make you feel like just out of it. But, what I do is just reflect on the fact that we live in only one small planet out of million's and so we should always strive to be happy even if not much so much is going on in our lives and even if we don't socialize with a lot of people. It's okay to be not be okay sometimes, we are only human after all. Change is always good and we won't like every change sometimes, but at least you got to experience it and learned something from it. Sending you good love and energy!

Wow, this whole vlog reminds me so much of when I moved alone to Miami in 2017. Everything you said about feeling alone, culture change, not leaving your couch, thriving by being busy yet no longer being busy, and even more lonely after a party - lol, I can realte so much too it all 🤍 So I have to say it, it is totally normal and all apart of the journey, especially so when doing it alone, and even more especially so when in a different cultural setting. The best part of it is that no matter how uneasy and lonely it is at times, it truly forces you to connect even deeper with yourself and you become your best friend on a whole other level. I met so many other girls in a similar situation later on who felt this as well. Although I will say, when I moved to Paris, also alone, 2.5 years later I didn't feel any of this. I was immediately (and still am) on cloud nine living in France. However, I think my experience in Miami is what molded and led me to being able to appreciate such a good fit logistically, culturally, and career wise for myself. It all pans out and has a reason in the end. You're doing great babe and will continue to do so, I can tell 🤍🤍

In time as you settle hopefully the loneliness will pass. Any adjustment takes time. So go easy on yourself. In your moments of stillness, try to focus on your reasons for being there and what motivated you to take that step. Let those be the positive things that help you power through the down times till you feel yourself click back into a good space. All the best!

I can relate to how you feel being lonely after moving, I felt the same way for a few weeks when I studied abroad in France. I went alone and didn’t know anyone so I felt kind of lost at first! But over time you will adjust and meet people ❤ Have you ever tried Bumble BFF? you can match with other girls in the area and plan a meet up or something! I’ve noticed a lot of people on there are people who have recently moved too. I also know how you feel feeling awkward vlogging in public 😫 I started making vlogs bc I’ve always loved watching them, but I feel like an idiot haha I live in a small city that’s not a touristy place so I feel like I stand out a lot when I vlog in public 🙈

Stay encouraged Kieun...you will adjust sooner than you think. I think that you are still familiar with American culture because you were raised her...It's just that reality that you are in a new state with no connections at the moment, but with your bubbly personality, you will meet some great people sooner or later. Just keep moving, going places and getting out your comfort zone. It takes a few months to get comfortable anywhere you go. I am praying and rooting for you beautiful lady. Blessings!!!

Don’t fight loneliness, embrace it! Is the only way to fully grow and come out to the other side sane and healed. Loneliness can be full of wisdom and love. ❤ I left my birth country 17 years ago and came to a new culture and STILL don’t have many many friends BUT I learned how to enjoy myself so much that to be with me a person needs to be so so so worth it heheheh we should normalise small groups, being alone and see as a positive and a great opportunity for knowing ourselves deeply. Falling in love with myself was the key to “endure” life hardships. At the end of the day we only have ourselves, really 😘 much love xx

Hi Kieun, it is so brave that you are being open about the struggles and loneliness of moving to a new city. Even if it's exciting to try something or somewhere new, it's okay to have times when it feels the opposite of fun - that is an experience that so many people have - you are not alone in feeling that way. No doubt you'll find your groove and settle in sooner than you think, but if you don't and you decide that LA isn't for you, that's okay too - that's part of trying it out. Wishing you all the best, your vlogs are wonderful!

Hi Kieun - I can totally relate to you about this loneliness feeling. I've been living in America for almost 10 years now, and I still feel that from time to time. I think what's missing in your "adjusting to a new city" is the Asian aspect. I work in advertising, which is a very white-male-dominant industry - there aren't many Asians in my company either. But lucky for me, we have an ERG group called API, and that's when I started to feel a little more comfortable working here. So even though everyone in my team are Caucassian, I have people that I know can feel related to me and my experience, and that I can talk to when I'm struggling. I hope you can find someone who maybe also do KZbin or maybe recently moved to America from Asia as well.

Hi Kieun ! I totally understand your feelings. I left my homeland 5 years ago. I am happy but I still struggle to meet people with whom I can really connect with as friends. And I feel like I am not as comfortable with others as I was at 23 when I arrived in the country. It can be very tiring to start over and over again. Maybe you can start group classes/activities, I know that some groups exists on Facebook also. Try not to compare the 2 countries too much because you won't find the same qualities (I think that we often glorify what we left or what we don't have). But maybe you will find other qualities 😊. Because it is a "test" year, you have nothing to lose, you should enjoy it and try something new ! Anyway, I love your videos and hope you will feel better.

Not having friends available whilst wanting to explore and experience, is the case for many people. Not many are mentally able to enjoy their own company and try new things, the way you do. You inspire so many people to pursue their wishes. I see you as a powerful individual that radiates positive energy and bliss. Take care X

Really loved the vlog! Honestly, when you said you're moving to the US I was worried that your content will bore me but even though I know I will be missing the cafes and overall entertainment scene of Korea, I really like how now you're shifting into a more personal "theme". I felt like earlier there wasn't much conversation included and I really hope that soon you will be able to tell us about positive things, but rn I'm really happy you're not trying to make ur life look perfect. Beginnings are always hard, I can relate to your feelings sm (and also about moving back to my country), but you've just come back so don't get discouraged. Try to put yourself out there as much as you can, you have an amazing personality so I'm sure you'll be able to meet a lot of good people! I'd say from my experience that it is pretty easy to make friends through Instagram - I usually just search up tags in a certain city (like #losangelescafe or the same thing but in Korean ^^) - you can find a lot of content creators this way and then just answer to their stories like "oh I've been wanting to go to this cafe too. Is it good?" or try going to some events like painting classes, yoga, photography etc where you can meet people :) I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you, I'm sure that it will get better in no time and even if you end up not loving it, there are still nearly 200 countries in this world :) Don't pressure yourself about "getting your life together" in LA, just focus on enjoying your daily life. Love! x

Hi Kieun, have you thought about moving to another area of L.A such as West L.A? I think you may like the more vibrant scene and the cafes/stores that are in West Hollywood. Downtown L.A is thriving, in some areas, but you definitely need a car to get around. Walking isn't very safe. I think that the West side of Los Angeles may bring you some more entertainment and perhaps the vibe that you need to adjust to life in Los Angeles.

Everywhere looks so calm, empty and peaceful (even your apartment complex) compared to the hustle, bustle and noise of korea. It looks heavenly to me! I crave that kind of calm! I’m sure you’ll get settled and feel at home soon ❤️

Girl, totally get it. I'm originally from California, moved away for a couple years, moved back and it was still hard to readjust. It's also especially hard if you're living alone in a new place and have totally felt those feelings of loneliness before. I'm in San Diego now but considering moving to LA in the next year or so. Good luck, you're not alone! 💕

Couple of years ago, I moved from a small country in Europe to Brooklyn for a year. Wanted to stay longer but I couldn't, I was so lonely. I couldn't find friends which were a good fit for me even the city so full of people. Everyone there felt so distant and different from what I was used to. I still have nice memories and would never regret either going there or also coming back home. I'm wishing you to perfectly settle down and finding hobbies and eventualy new friends. 💕 You deserve it! And there's no shame wanting to move closer to your family or back to Korea! You can do whatever your heart desires!

Moving by yourself to a brand new city and apartment is super brave!! I did it and know how stressful it be. I couldn’t even assemble my own furniture though, I had to hire people to do it all! Your new apartment looks awesome. While it’s hard, you are so strong and can get through and settle in!! Sending you much love❤

Kieun, I'm also going through those many emotions. I'm in Paris for a masters and the city is amazing, but finding a place with my budget has been stressful. I also feel very lonely most days. In Brazil I studied and worked and here I will study but only have classes 2x a week... I feel kinda useless sometimes. Hope these feelings will go away soon and we'll find ourselves friends and places to call ours in these new cities. Thank you so much for sharing these moments even though they might not be easy.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, it’s going to take time! Even moving cities in the same country can be an adjustment. I recently moved only 6 hours away from a place I’d been living for 10 years and I’m now coming up on my 6th months of living here and I’m barely adjusting. I’m only 2 hours south of you, although we’ve never met I would be down to explore LA! I was also thinking maybe you could do some more vlogs with your subscribers in LA and while that might only be a temporary bandaid on loneliness it might help. You could also find a part time job to try and meet people. Just hang in there and I’m sending hugs ❤️❤️

I lived in 4 countries, including Korea and when I moved to Spain I thought it would be a great idea but irl I felt totally lonely and because the place was not my vibe, the people weren't too (in Europe each country has its' own vibe so people tend to choose the place to live by - ofc job opportunities but also - their hobbies and their own "vibe") and it made me realized that I need to move to Korea cause I knew it would "match me". I'm sure you didn't choose LA for no reason so you will surely find people that will make you feel at home. Remember that it takes time to get used to any change. I remember my best friend moving to Budapest, she liked the city but wanted to go home cause she felt lonely but after just a few weeks made some close friends and it became the best experience possible. From my own experience if there is any advice that I can give it reach out to others. It might seem a bit funny to say but if 180K people on the internet find you cool and want to watch your videos each week I'm sure there will be people who will want to hang out with you (such as other creators)

@@izzywoods794 I live in the EU so I wouldn't say it's smt uncommon here hmm. I lived in Spain and Korea as I did a student exchange there, also lived in the NL (I feel like I can say that as it's been like 4 months in full) bc of a summer job. and obv Poland which is where I was born. If you're not from EU I think I cannot help much :(

Dear Kieun, sending hugs to you🤗, hope you are okay. I’ve been following your journey from Korea to LA. You are the bravest girl that I know, it is very tough moving to the new city alone. I admired your spirit and installing all those furnitures by yourself is 👍🏻👍🏻 Hope your family can talk to you more to fight the loneliness, God will have His way to make everything better❤

Hi Kieun! While watching this vlog I related a lot to your emotions and thought process. I only lived in Korea for a year, but the adjustment to life in Seoul was so smooth and my daily life was just continually active and social. When I moved back to LA, I felt like my social skills completely dissipated. It felt weird to contact friends I hadn’t spoken to in over a year, and even American culture and humor felt off. In the first two weeks being back, I literally had 10+ people come up to me and asking where I was from because they thought I had an accent. Honestly, the entire transition was really difficult, and although it’s become more comfortable living here, I still feel like I haven’t totally adjusted. I hope you’re able to find your way here though, and even if LA isn’t the permanent place for you, hopefully you can view this as a learning experience full of growth in your life! Just give it a little time :) btw, you’re doing a great job decorating your home, it’s so aesthetic and pretty

Ah I recently visited LA and wanted to see the last bookstore but wasnt able to its my goal next visit thanks for including it and i hope you dont feel so out of place la is one of the most laid back places most people dont mind others so much and are more than willing to help with directions or small kindnesses so try not to feel uncomfortable vlogging or just being at home but be careful walking around as well especially at night ooh and water always have water the desert is very hot in a second you can be hot

Hi Kieun! I feel the same way as you are. It has been my 3 months at work and i haven't made any friends yet. Btw, when you are having a hard time with removing prices on your new vases, you could use a dishwashing soap and water -- It will do the trick! ;) God bless you always. I am happy for you!

I moved to a city once where I didn't know a soul. That was the loneliest I've ever felt in my life! I realized at one point I'd gone like weeks and weeks without touching another human - no hugs, or anything! Even after 3 years, it never really felt like home. I did, however, eventually make some lifelong friends :) It just took time. Now I live somewhere better suited to me.

Dunno if you've ever visited LA at length before but Koreatown is always hopping. Alhambra/Monterey Park/San Gabriel for Chinese food/dimsum. Take a hike in Griffith Park. Lots of AAPI networking events in the DTLA area. Newport Beach/Laguna Beach are great to escape and catch your breath. And that concludes the itinerary ideas.

@kieunchoi I actually just moved back to LA last month because I went back home for 10months But I’ve lived here about 6 years prior to move. I know many ppl have offered to hang out and it’s probably weird because you don’t know any of us lol! But I’m here as well if you want to hang! Just know it will get better as you meet people and learn more about the city. 😊

Relate to this so much. I just moved to a new place and its only been less than 2 weeks since i moved here. Its my first time in my life to live alone. It feels lonely and uncomfortable to do a lot of new things in a new town. But as for now, i feel also lucky coz people were nice and helpful to me. I hope i can adjust here soon.
