Fascinating! I SOO wanted to join in, but forgot what the date was yesterday! I like the idea that one reason could be "abbreviation" for space or margin reasons. And of course there may be totally un-thought-of reasons we will never know. But it's worth the investigation! How long did it take you to count through all those, to get your tally? Can you give us some hints about what the rest of the meeting discussed?

How do they know the masorah they received was actually accurate? Also what did they translate the MT from? and why does that not still exist?
