Very unsure of why people are making fun of these obviously studious and hardworking men. They did incredibly well; Arabic and English as languages are worlds apart, and to grasp such a well-practiced conversational level as they have is something to be admired.

These two students earned my highest regards and respect for their handwork to learn new language (English) which is not their native tongue, Now, All of u guys making fun of them and mocking their accent, remember, you barely speak few words of ANY other language other than your native language. However, these students speak their native language well, and more credit to them by learning and being able to speak fairly well English which is not their native language, Obviously! That been said, U do realize at the end of the day, they are better than most Americans and U,K citizen whom barely speak academic English, because Most of u guys speak slang English, which is not considered ACADEMICALLY CONSTRUCTED and correct!

@elybrettaigne591510 жыл бұрын
You started off with a very good, valid point. But you waffle into a conclusion that L1 speakers have a poorer ability than those whose English is L2, with zero evidence. "Most of you guys speak slang". Er, no we do not. We have the ABILITY to speak informally, or formally, or in any way we choose because we have a far stronger ability to utilise our first language than most of those who use English as a second language. What people do with a language, and what they know are two different things. You clearly know little of First vs. Second Language acquisition.
@abdirizaqshire26279 жыл бұрын
Let me give Example, in my case English is not my first language, and I don't an a thick accent, while I am still able to keep my other native languages. So don't you think I am in better position than most of only English native speakers for been good at learning and speaking English while maintaining my native to other languages? I think so. So the idea of someone that speaks one language trying yo monk me on how I speak a language that is not my native, Of course thats if I have an accent.

the younger generation in Abu Dhabi can speak fluent English some even have accents of America ,British ,Canadian etc! they teach Everything in English in the schools of the united Arab Emirates (Dubai), The kings found out when the Citizens studied abroad in Europe they found it difficult to learn and understand. So the kings of Uae decided that the curriculum should be taught in English. Only the older generation cannot speak English or very little , but the rest do.

I think they did well, and will certainly improve if they take more lessons, and practice more. Emiratis are wealthy, and have access to free higher education, and this means many of them do not try hard, and take things easy. The gentlemen here are exceptions, and are some of the hard working affluent Arabs (who are fewer in number). More education and exposure to the world of knowledge is a blessing, and a good command of the English language is a gateway to those blessings. It is good to see that these Arab gentlemen are headed that way.

I love listening to Arabic-speaking people speak in English, as well as their native Arabic. English is likely as hard for them to learn as Arabic is hard to learn. I know. It’s taken me two years to learn grammar in Arabic, the Arabic alphabet and some rudimentary vocabulary. Not to mention reading Arabic is difficult with all the accent marks and pronounciation in reading the words.

In my point it is not the students who were nervous. It was the examiner. He should speak to students to make them feel comfortable. But he was the one who was nervous. Reading the questions
