Dude had to give his MC so many allies, so many power ups, dude got more power ups in Wano than the entire story arcs combined, and had to debuff his antagonist so many times and still the fight was so close!!!!!!

I'm gonna be honest: I do look foward to seeing this battle, however writing wise there is a huge problem, which I am interested in seeing as how Oda is going to tackle it: deus ex machina. I personally think that this is pretty much a self dug hole by Oda. Now everytime when it seems that Luffy is going to lose or struggle we can just have an asspull where he "uses more of his hidden power" and wins. Deus ex machina - you do not need an explanation or charachter development or using clever strategies, just auto-win and that's it.

He's still no match for Kizaru, Luffy snakeman was struggling against base form Kizaru without any light, Kizaru was CASUALLY deflecting every punch from every corner, the moment Kizaru used his light he one shot Luffy, Luffy needed the gear 5 to awaken him and even with that luffy was still burned and in pain and bleeding, yes burned, the kick was so fast it evaporated the vega 1 robo which was made of metal, and Luffy traveled so fast due to the kick his body got burns all over.

Something I always see with Kizaru is that when he's going Light Speed, he takes a moment where he quiets down, appears to focus and gather light, and then he makes Light Speed movement. And when he does, he always goes in a straight line, reflecting over surfaces to change direction. Which, for me, shows 3 VERY important things: 1) He can't simply go from 0 to 100 in an instant, simply start moving at Light Speed in a moment. He needs to take a moment to do it, a moment where he basically stops moving, leaving him exposed. 2) He can't move however he likes when moving at Light Speed, he moves in a pre-determined path. So he probably can't REACT at Light Speed, only MOVE at Light Speed, which is a VERY important difference. 3) When he's going to punch/kick someone right after moving out of Light Speed, he comes out of the Light Speed. If I had to guess, then I would say that if he hit someone at Light Speed, he would reflect upon their surface and end somewhere else, so he NEEDS to stop to actually hit them. His ranges attacks ARE Light Speed, so you better have good enough Haki to tank them with Armor or get out of the way before they are launched with Observation. But he can't simply get away from your attacks at Light Speed in an instant, or punch you at Light Speed while running circles around you. This are all very important limitations that stop Kizaru from beign literally the strongest person in the story simply for having the Pika Pika no Mi.

Good summary but 3 is wrong. Kizaru displayed this at Sabaody right before dropping one of the sickest oneliners of the show to Hawkins: "have you ever been kicked at the speed of light?" But in this conversation he also seemed to build it up and this needed time is enough for Luffy to grab him outta it imo.

If I don't remember wrong, when he was about to kick both Hawkins and Apoo, both were able to see the hit getting closer and move their eyes towards it once Kizaru came out of the "Light Form", when he took again human shape. They weren't fast enough to actually avoid or block it, which is to be expected given that Kizaru is still a frigging Admiral, but they could see it. So, this leads me to believe that Kizaru can get into reach at Light Speed, but the actual punch/kick will be done out of Light Speed. Which would give you basically a fraction of a second to avoid or block, still absurdly fast and hard to counter, but more realistic. Especially if you try to block with Haki, which wouldn't require body movement, only applying it where you are going to be hit.

Anyone with decently good observation haki can intercept Kizaru's attacks. Light moves in straight lines, so once you know the intent behind the attack you know exactly where it's going to go. Future sight (which Rayleigh definitely had) makes it even easier to avoid. It's when character's are caught off guard (like Whitebeard and Marco during marineford) where the lightspeed attack really becomes unavoidable.

I feel like we need to get a showcase of Logia superattacks. We got all of Kaidou's attacks, Big Mom's attacks up on the skull dome, and their combined attack that Zoro barely withstood. Kizaru's weakness is that he needs to materialize to hit you. So if you can force a hand to hand fight, using advanced haki (perhaps armor made from it) or other tactics you should be able to hit him. I really think this will be a fast fight once Luffy figures this out. Kizaru's not used to get hit, and he's older-ish. His defeat could actually trigger the world govt to all-in.

Luffy has shown to be able to dodge similar light beam attacks from the pacifista at base. And his COC Haki allows him to hit enemies without touching them. Even if Kizaru turns into light to doge attacks, that light is still part of his body. And turning your body into that element as a logia user does not mean you can’t take damage because smoker turns into smoke but is still hit by Haki infused attacks. With that in mind, even in light form, he can still get hit with COC and his only way to not get hit is to doge it completely which is difficult.

Kizaru doesn’t seem to actually want to kill Vegapunk. Knowing Haki is essentially just will, Luffy may have a stronger will to win the fight than Kizaru does and win somehow through more of Kizaru “giving up” in kind of the same way that Katakuri did imo. I know this is an unpopular opinion, and people want the Admirals to remain super powerful and so on. But I personally REALLY want Luffy to actualy Trounce Kizaru, humiliating him. Why, you might ask, it removes the intimidation from the Marines. Well, multiple reasons. 1: The Marines as a force is not meant to be a "We are dangerous because of 3 people". They are dangerous because they are like... 90% of the world. They are the institution, the corrupt police officer, the "overwhelming mass". I personally disagree that the admirals (as alone individuals) should be the main threat. Theres a difference between dodging an attack and moving at a speed. I can hit a baseball going 70 mph. But i can't run that fast. Especially in a world where they have observation but is essentially precognition. Theres also the stance that he is probably only light in his major named attacks and the rest of his attacks are ionized gas since vegapunk said he wanted to study his fruit in partciular and if he just wanted to study light he could have just studied light. I think you're massively over-estimating Kisaru's speed in combat. Even if he technically could move at "anime lightspeed" he clearly can't do it whenever he wants, else he would have no reason to use his mirror technique to move around. One way or another his movement is limited without that technique, so his in-combat speed is quite likely considerably slower than his maximum speed.

The X Factor in this fight really is Kizaru's personality. I'm not sure if we really have a handle on what he's all about. If he starts getting hurt, he MIGHT just lay down and play possum or run away? Just because he's not used to it. I think Kizarus movement at "light speed" works similarly to how Kuro's Pussyfoot Maneuver did, but to the nth degree. The faster he allows himself to go the less control he has while traveling, which is why he has to aim his trajectory off of surfaces when moving at true light speed with Yata no Kagami. Plus even with future sight natural speed and reaction time matters. Kizaru doesn't move at light speed all the time or with his entire body. His teleportation as you said needed charging up so he can be interrupted. But I want Luffy's interpretation of Gear 5 to be that "even time is rubber to me" and he stretches and contracts spacetime to become the fastest creature on the planet. that way, he doesn't need to be the absolute strongest, just is faster than anyone. In regards to the admiral's hakI I assume they all at least have advanced armament and observation haki with Ryuo and future sight. Then Fujitora has higher spec-ed future sight and observation haki, Ryokugyu has higher spec-ed armament haki, Kizaru is incredibly skilled in his devil fruit, while Sakazuki has advanced conqueror's haki. I specifically think that Sakazuki has conqueror's haki because 1 he is the fleet admiral and 2 because he is very against what the world government are doing and is working to make his own kind of Marines.

He was able to use observation haki to perfectly map out where everyone was during dressrosa and their physical features to the point where his blindness was not a handicap whatsoever. I think Kizaru should be specialised in his DF to the point where he arguably has the best control over a DF out of everyone in the series for two reasons 1 because that would be a nice nod the pre-timeskip where haki played almost no roll which he is the only remaining admiral from and 2 because his DF seems like the most OP out of the admirals. Personally I think everyone is build up Kizaru too much. Yes he has the light fruit but that doesn't mean he's invincible or you can match his speed. If that were true then he would have killed every single unnamed pirate that showed up at Marineford easily, basically every one except for the commanders or every single worst generation at Sabaody. ive been thinking about luffy vs kizaru since we first knew he was coming and i believe that luffy is a direct counter to the light fruit. there is a thing in physics called the Doppler Effect. It describes how sound waves and light waves work. essentially luffy in g5 should be able stretch or squish kizaru and alter the light of kizaru (yellow - from his jacket) and make it red (stretch) or blue (squish) and that will result in weakening kizarus abilities.
