Admiral washer stinks and sounds like water left in tub

Lorenzo, You saved my day!! I thought that sloshing sound was water left in the Washer that didn’t drain. I just purchased the AMANA set that’s almost identical to these, from MARKETPLACE. I thought I’d purchased a lemon, but now I’m glad to know it’s supposed to be in there.

I am so grateful for this video! I just had this exact problem and I was about to tear into my washing machine from the wrong end (the bottom) to find that nuissance water that wouldn't drain. This video saved me HOURS and tons of headache. I quickly found that black gunk he was talking about and boy was it nasty. All cleaned up now and fresh as can be. AWESOME, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I am glad the water is actually necessary but o have the same issue with the smell. I'm going to try and run bleach and if it still smells I'll take the tub out! Thank you this video was so helpful!

For years I thought I had water trapped in my washer haha . They make tablets to clean these washers I had the odor issues until I started using them

This video helped me take apart this washer. I have an Amana washer that looks just like yours. We had a similar issue with smells, but I took it apart like you said, and did not find much smelly brown/black stuff. The dirtiest part was by the top ring that snaps over the metal bin. Oh well, Maybe it will stop smelling like rotten eggs, maybe not. Maybe it's something with the drain hose or pump. At least it smells a little better like simple green!

And after you put that back together, start using washing machine cleaner and run the clean washer cycle

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. I just can't figure out how to get the bolt out that holds the agitator in place. I think I need a socket wrench, but I'm not sure what size? A regular wrench isn't doing the trick.

If I remember right it was a 13mm socket to take the bolt out

Question, I cleaned all the gunk out of the outer tub, the shaft and my inner tub center, do I need to replace any lubricant for between the shaft and the inner tub? Also thank you for explaining the balancing ring, I was not sure and no other video mentioned it. Maybe it is obvious to others, but it was not to me.

I didn’t use any lubricant going back together and I haven’t had any issues .

The agitator doesn't just come out. Took the 13 mm for the one bolt inside but it wont come out. Its hanging on for dear life. Its not as easy as you say

Yeah the first time I took it out it was kind of a pain I believe I just wiggled it while pulling up and it came out

Umm yeah NO there is no water in that upper ring it is in the bottom somewhere!

There is water on that upper ring , I pulled the whole tub out and you can definitely hear and feel it when you shake the tub, at the bottom there are struts attached to balance it out but definitely liquid in the top ring
