There's a live video of Phil Collins performing in the air tonight. At one point he's walking up a set of stairs while singing and as he approaches the top a drum kit rises up for the fill, and as it rises up the audience loses its fucking mind. It's epic.

piratexander tired of playing songs? haha, no, it's just a way to get fans involved. Not many bands in the history of rock invite fans onstage at almost every show, and they have given hundreds of guitars away, and those aren't cheap guitars either.

The coolest parts about this and videos like this are: A)The fan being so confident in his abilities that he can play the song with the band that wrote the song, and B) The willingness of the band to give up an entire part of their preplanned set to a fan who claims they know their music, and have it go off without a hitch.
@standard-carrier-wo-chan2 жыл бұрын

J.A.R." is a song by the American rock band Green Day. Written by bassist Mike Dirnt about a friend who died by suicide in a car crash,[4] the song was a previously unreleased track from the Dookie sessions but it was later featured on the soundtrack to the movie Angus in 1995. In August 1995, the song reached number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and spent 16 weeks on it. The song peaked at number 22 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. The song was featured as the eighth track on Green Day's 2001 greatest hits collection International Superhits!, and on their 2011 live album Awesome as Fuck. The acronym stands for 'Jason Andrew Relva', a childhood friend of Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt. Jason Relva was born on November 16, 1972, and died at the age of 19 on April 18, 1992, as the result of injuries sustained from a car crash. Mike Dirnt wrote the song in remembrance of him.[5] In an interview, Dirnt suggested that Relva had intended to die by suicide since Relva had been reportedly going 95 miles-per-hour before the crash.[4] Jason Relva is thanked in the liner notes of 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk. PopMatters listed "J.A.R." as the ninth best Green Day song, commenting "It's a winner in its own right, and in a sense, its bubbling bass, buzzing chord crashes, and Tre Cool's killer chorus drum beat is the Platonic ideal of a Green Day song."[9] Both Mark Hoppus of blink-182 and Chris DeMakes of Less Than Jake rated "J.A.R." as their favorite Green Day song. Hoppus stated that the opening guitar riff of the blink-182 song "What's My Age Again?" was created by him trying and failing to play the opening bass riff of "J.A.R." on his guitar. -Source: Wikipedia I believe it was recorded on Dokkie album demos, but it didn't make the cut cause the subject of the song wouldn't fit the rest of the album.

Fourth Fusion I said the same thing to him when it was over. He said he couldn't hear Billie at all it was to loud, and he was walking to Mike because the set list was infront of him and he thought Billie had already said no to his song request so he wanted to see what song was up next, he was planning on playing it..LOL

I don't think he could hear Billie and he was looking in Mike's direction so when Mike started telling him Billie was talking to him he went to walk over to Mike to figure out what Mike was saying lol.

I saw my first Green Day show 2 weeks ago. It was one of the best moments I have witnessed on my own... Drove all the way from Albany, NY to Pittsburg, PA. 8 Hours. I missed Weezer and Fall Out Boy, but I made it within 30 minutes of Green day. I already knew the setlist, but it didn't fucking matter. I've waited 17 years

That was awesome! What a cool experience for that kid, and it's so nice to see bands get the crowds involved. Well done.

First of all, great job to the kid. I feel like even if I knew how to play these songs, if I went up there I would instantly forget everything. Also, it's impressive that they were able to play JAR with no notice, considering that's not a song they play often.
