My daughter is in last semester in nursing school (adn) and the pay is the same but the job she’s been offered she needs to get her bsn within 5 years. They will pay for her bsn. Out of pocket she will only pay around 2k to get her bsn

@@ramom2772 I am not an RN, nor have I worked in the healthcare field, but I have friends who are RNs. ASN-to-BSN programs are usually 2 years and it can all be done entirely online. ASN-to-BSN programs, from what I have been told, are all theory classes and is not as difficult as obtain an ASN since most of the important aspect of being a nurse have been covered in the ASN degree, especially the clinical portion.

Dignity pays well and accepts ADN. Long Beach memorial is “magnet”, requires BSN and pays significantly less. Magnet only means the management is required to have BSN... Not the staff.

I'm in an accelerated ASN/LVN program offered through a University. We also need to do Volunteer hours. And all of those requirements of science are built in to the School Because we get an Associate's degree and An LVN certificate upon graduation It's a 17 month Course. But it's easier to bridge into an ADN /BSN program without any trouble. That's the route I chose to take But overall it's a great field so however U get it done. Just get it done ...

That’s because they go to private schools that cost an arm and a leg. Lol the schools down here in FL are way cheaper than that. In an ADN program and it only costs like 6k. The hospital I’m applying to when I graduate pays for you to complete your bsn

Yeah I was looking at accelerated BSN programs out of state if I couldn't get into a California accelerated program which I did. The tuition for the east coast schools and midwest schools were way to high for the lower salaries. A school I applied to was 46k tuition in Missouri and the salary is like 50k a year there.

Want to go the absn route but I doubt I can get in with this low gpa. And I keep hearing mixed thoughts about adn and the job outlook and how most places want a bsn>adn. So just afraid that if I am forced to go the adn route (don’t get accepted into absn) I will struggle with finding a job. I live in philly btw.

I started with an ADN. I worked in a clinic and a tiny hospital. They were fine with it as long as I passed my NCLEX. But, I live in CA so I can’t say about Philly. But.. most magnet status hospitals will only hire BSN or BSN in progress. I would suggest doing some research around your area. As far as your GPA, most ADN programs minimum is 2.5 GPA so you need to ace all those nursing pre requisite classes and do well on your TEAS exam. Even an ADN program was very competitive for me and I had to retake anatomy to have my GPA be at least a 3.4

@Moviepisode

I am in the same sitiuation but decided to go for my ADN because it is cheaper and while on waitlist, I take the courses that I will need for BSN. ABSN is more intense, expensive and you will not be able to work at all but with ADN, at least, you have breaks and I will say, another difference is that, ADN is longer but few months apart from ABSN, to complete. This pandemic has made employers know that, ADN is also needed badly. But do your research and do what is suitable. All the best!

@@marcdumonceaux9610 i would keep applying to as many schools as you can. even ones a little bit further from you. the better grades you have the better chances of being picked in the lottery. the great thing about nursing is you have so many people of different ages starting at the same time. you will get into one as long as you have good grades and keep applying

it can take 4 years or longer depending on how long it takes to do prerequisites it can even take some people 3 years to do prerequisites , so it can take 5 years. i know someone who even took 6 years to get adn at a community college.
