About to graduate from my ABSN program in two months. I love that you mention how nursing school is not this terrible nearly impossible thing people make out to be. Is it hard? Yes. Doable? Totally. And my program is 12months and I'm second language speaker. Just FYI that last semester with you one on one with a nurse aka preceptorship is a requirement for all nursing schools.

I thoroughly agree with your sentiment. I just finished an associate's degree in sciences and arts yesterday. I had to acquire an associates to get into an accelerated program because I didn't go to college because I was always deathly afraid of it. My every experience with the institution of learning has been an abysmal failure, which is why I have been in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. My ADHD mostly diminished in my late teens, and I learned about my dyslexia at about the time I turned 27. By 28, I was reading everything I could get my hands on. I was like a machine, I was making up for lost time. Still too afraid of school, there was no way I was going back without a very good reason. One day back in the spring of 2021, I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Those classes were hard. A&P, chemistry, statistics, etc - they were hard but very doable, very passable. I'm graduating next week in the top ten percent of my school. Literally, if I can do it, by far most people can. If anybody reads this comment who thinks they don't belong in school, that they are in some way a fraud, please trust that you are not; you CAN do it. I knew every single day I was going to fail; I knew every day that I needed to quit. It is unfortunate that we put "school" on such a high and unbreakable pedestal.

Some schools allow you to have 60 credits (instead of a Bachelor’s degree)! I go to Utica College ABSN and the two Florida campuses allow that. I’m not sure of any others at the moment! I think it varies by state

Depends on the state but no. It will be considered a fast track program. They have programs for ppl that already have their associates also!

Hi! I'm sorry I cant be much help. I am not sure how nursing programs work in Canada, Poland, or Australia. I came from a non-science background but had to take science classes as prerequisites for my program. Good luck!

Hi Margaret, how did you prepare for the TEAS, and can science prerequisites be completed online for example Gen Chem?

I am thinking of doing this too, was it hard to get into a program like this?
@margaretarmen3 жыл бұрын
Different programs require different things but I didn’t find it too difficult. Most just looked for a 3.0 or higher, the prereqs (or plans to do them), and a short application. Mine did not ask for references but others that I looked at did.

Hello Margareth I am currently searching for Absn programs and thinking about community college for taking prerequisites. Currently i am pregnant and taking those online would help me a lot. I wonder how and where did you take your classes? Thank you. Its a great video!
@margaretarmen3 жыл бұрын
Community college is the perfect way to do pre reqs! I did all of mine online through a Portage Learning (chosen by my school). I’m sure many community colleges offer online classes, just be sure your program will accept the credits before you start!
