Thank you Laura for this tutorial.I Love it! Do you know if you can send an image from the ipad (using Fresco) to illustrator 2019?
@LauraCoyle4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure - you probably need to be logged in to CC. You might have to just do it manually.

Do you know what the differences are between the iPad Apps "AI Graphic Art," "Adobe Fresco Draw and Paint," and "AI Draw?"
@LauraCoyle3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandy! I think the first one is Illustrator on the iPad, it's a lot like Illustrator on the desktop. Fresco is a hybrid: you can draw with pixel based brushes like Procreate, but also vector brushes on separate vector layers. AI Draw is the original vector drawing iPad app, it works like the vector layers in Fresco (I think... but I have not used it much). As iPad Illustrator and Fresco keep improving, who knows what will happen with Draw - there will be a lot of overlap.

Hi Laura! I’m a new subscriber. At around 57 seconds in the video you are editing a pattern in real time (in Illustrator). I took an expensive class on pattern design and I didn’t know you could edit a “preview” of the pattern! Do you have a video on how to do this? Thanks so much, I love your channel already.

That is Pattern Editing Mode in Illustrator and I have a course for it called Pattern Power lauracoylecreative.teachable.com You can find a demonstration of how it works in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXKZqXdqgdugetU where halfway through I go from the iPad to the desktop Pattern mode at about 8 minutes in. So glad to have you as a subscriber!!

Hi Laura, can you explain why when I send it to Illustrator, my vector layers are not in vector??
@LauraCoyle3 жыл бұрын
It could be that you used a clipping mask on that layer? There are certain things that will make a vector layer import to Illustrator with the art converted into pixel images. I've seen it with clipping masks, and if I use the vectors in a Capture pattern. There are probably other things you could do to a vector layer in Fresco that would cause that to happen too.

Hi, is it possible to do this with illustrator for ipad?
@LauraCoyle3 жыл бұрын
There is a Blob Brush in Illustrator for iPad with similar features, it's under the Pencil Tool.

For those of us using a desktop pc, will this still work? I'm debating on adding Fresco for it's watercolor features and would love to make motifs and then upload to illustrator for pattern work. Is that possible?
@LauraCoyle3 жыл бұрын
Yes it should work, it's basically a Photoshop import of the Fresco document, so nothing Mac/PC exclusive. Watercolor motifs will be pixel based and tracing them / converting to vector can be very complex, so that would be my one hesitation in using Illustrator rather than Photoshop for that.

@@LauraCoyle Thank you for your reply back to me. I'm new to this whole world of pattern design and just finished a course using Illustrator but I'm seeing so many using Photoshop, maybe I should give that a try. I have used it in the past along with Affinity designer for POD t shirt designs, but not in this manner. Thank you so much for you awesome tutorials. Glad I found you.

Does it work for you? I see your comment is 3 years old now. I am on an iPad for Fresco and a PC desktop for Illustrator (both signed in with my Adobe Creative Cloud account). I absolutely cannot get the file to open in illustrator from Fresco. It says "failed" every time. I've Googled and researched for hours and have found so many people saying it used to work but now it doesn't. I'm not sure if it's an iPad to PC thing or an Adobe thing, but apparently it doesn't work. It's so frustrating!

@@thehallhive9425 Hey there. Honestly, I had forgotten about this question. I got as far as downloading Fresco but never really got the hang of designing and esp creating watercolor with it. I abandoned the whole Fresco thing shortly after. I ended up painting my own watercolor designs and scanning and making digital copies of them. I wish I could be more helpful.
