The 3D features are pretty cool! Blender is still great for more complex drawings, but Illustrator's 3D sketches are great to show and iterate on a concept

I can’t for the life of me ray trace..it just crashes, it’s literally worked once! But I find this without ray tracing perfectly acceptable for me which is creating small 3d elements for logos…so a small palm tree or a ring texture. I presume this will improve in the future.

It's not harder to learn to throw a few 3D shapes together in Blender than it is to learn the 3D aspects of your drawing program, and when you need to go further the sky is the limit in Blender, and none of your drawing app 3D skills will help. Blender: the price is right. Adobe: the price is so very wrong.

3D has been a part of illustrator for years now, but has always been quite... wonky and not very good looking. Besides the fact that performance is very bad, the moving around individual pieces is really tedious. What if you decide you want another camera angle for your piece for instance? If you want to do this well for a more complex project, learn Blender as it is so much better at stuff like this. If you are an illustrator guy and just want the 3D look, just draw and build them yourselves instead of limiting yourself with these options.

And that’s how they destroy apps. Why add that feature for a vector app? They already have a lot of apps so, why don’t create another one for easy 3D design? I don’t want a vector app that is a swift army knife! I want a useful vector app. Let me explain better before the Adobe Advocate Fans start complaining. Why I need to pay $300 for Vector Magic if I have Illustrator!!? Why Adobe put efforts into 3D when the vector capabilities needs work. They always do that! And that’s how they kill a useful app.
