Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am so glad I found you. I use a powered wheelchair, whilst my dog is not frightened of it, she does not heel properly all the time. Hopefully following your advice she and I will learn together.

Thank you so much for this. Exactly what I needed and reinforcement that I’m on the right track with my 4 month old. Today she did amazingly and then I have come home and found your video showing exactly what I was doing instinctively and it’s reinforced that we will definitely get there together and with the powered wheels. Very interesting. I have 2 new clients that use motorized wheelchairs but are also little people. So their hands are tiny. Looking for ideas on training their dogs. Where did you get the pouch you are using that is attached to your seatbelt?

Hello! I was wondering: I am an ambulatory wheelchair user. Would you train heel using the wheelchair first or walking first? I was thinking of doing both at the same time, doing walking in the morning training session and wheelchair in the evening training session. Does that sound reasonable?

I would teach the fundamentals first whilst walking, then once your dog is confident with heeling next to you, you can strip back to the foundations and rebuild from the chair.
