I'm so happy for all who are able to find their families. I'm the youngest of 9 in a much bigger German family and I can go back at least 3 generations with pictures of my Grands and now 3 generations after me. It is a feeling of great belonging!!

My parents, aunts and uncles came from Puerto Rico. I’ve been doing genealogy and then DNA for over 15 years. No one in my family was as interested. My sister recently found notes my mother had written over 25 years ago about family history. Mami, that’s where I get it from! A deep seated need to know ❤

Thank you for sharing that insight that Puerto Ricans are likely to get their DNA tested. I learned that I was part Puerto Rican in my 30s and that explains why I have 40,000 DNA matches on Ancestry!

That the client was conceived in such a way, kind of explains her awkwardness with her father’s family! I always say the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree! If Mama was always looking for her, I wonder why mom or sister didn’t do Ancestry or 23 n Me-it could have been so easy. This was a wonderful story and I’m glad both mom’s met so birth mom knows her daughter went to a wonderful family and in the end mom probably did the right thing at the time.

So she met the man who abused her mom? I'm so sad that in those years young girls and women were afraid to speak up. If I had my child tell me that happened I would be in prison
@dnangelsorg254424 күн бұрын
She did. She wasnt aware of the circumstances of her birth until we found mom.

@dnangelsorg2544 that has to be so hard for both mom and daughter. It makes me sad that people like him exist in this world. And I'm glad that our society has made some progress in the area of supporting young single mothers we have a long way to go for sure but I'm hoping for our future generations it happens quickly.

My brick wall is my grandfather. I have no DNA matches to my maiden name, even though I have matches to my father's relatives. I have no information about my paternal grandfather's life before he moved to Indiana from Texas as a young man. No birth certificate, no census record located. I finally theorized that he was illegitimate. The last name he adopted is a shortened, Americanized version of a name that recurs with DNA matches. We have found the possible great great grandparents, but they had many sons. None of them married my widowed great-grandmother. I wasted years searching in vain.

So you are trying to learn the identity of your paternal grandfather's parents?

It sounds like you’ve been through quite the journey. Genealogy can be incredibly challenging, especially with those elusive relatives. Keep digging, and you might just uncover some surprising connections!

@@BeckyInCa, I know his mother. But she did not remarry after she was widowed. My grandfather and his older sister appear to be from a subsequent relationship. There are no census records with these people's names. I need someone who can think out of the box.

I think you meant “the majority of trees on Ancestry only have direct ancestors” rather than “descendants”? At ca 5:24.

When adopted people want to find their biological family they are not acting ungratefully or dishonourably, they are acting like what they… a human being. An Adoption Order is an attempt via law to change that which is natural to something it is not whereas human nature consistently expresses itself as human. Adopters need to remember they have adopted a human being who will, should and is free to express their human nature & this includes biological relatedness. Time has been granted for adopters to establish sound loving relationships with the adopted child, of whom they’ve always known is from a different family, so being good parents, trustworthy leaders etc is as important as every other aspect of parenting a child from another family as if he/she is your own. The fear felt is no doubt founded in the instinctive ‘knowing’ of how strong biological ties are, that human beings naturally attract to their genetic relatives, but this is all a part of living the adoption lifestyle & must be addressed in order to avoid deep wounds stemming from adoptive parents demanding the adopted child reject their own human nature by not finding their original family. I wish adoption was abolished in favour of guardianship, so much easier & more realistic. Anyway, that’s my soapbox moment.

@@dnangelsorg2544 Your stories seem to touch my “soapbox nerves” :) but in a good way. I think the same principle applies for natural parents esp the women who refuse to tell their child who their father is… then I’m reaching for my really big soapbox 😜

I found out at 15 going on 16 that my dad wasn't my biological father. My mother and I had been out and we bumped into my biological father & revealed his identity to me once we got home. I met my eldest brother on my father's side through my uncle on my moms side. Here's the kicker, we lived almost across the street from one another. He's 6 years older then me and we both graduated from the same middle school just years apart. I remember being in middle school and my principal at the time asking if I'd had an older brother who attended the school prior and I said no because I had no idea I even had an older brother lol, come to find out he did! 😂😂😂 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmWcZWqDec-irKs
