This is a good contrast between a normal baby and one with disabilities. It has nothing to do with the care of the mother. Jarang hasn’t had the gripping ability Rufus shows and couldn’t be carried the same. Jingga did a good job figuring out a way to transport him and keep him with her.

Yes I think so to Pam, she must have known that she needed to hold onto him due to his lack of grip. I think she new more than everyone gave her credit for. 🥰

Apparently Jingas mother carried her the same way she carries Jarang. IMO it did end up being a good way to keep him safe

You're absolutely right. A video or two ago, we saw Jarang and Jingga try the same "baby riding backwards on mom's head" move, and it was, shall we say, less than graceful. They gave it a go, but what's normal for other orangutans isn't always the best, or safest, way for them to do things, so they constantly adapt & overcome. Whenever I see them doing their own thing, one of my favorite quotes pops into my head: "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music" (Nietzsche). Our inability to hear the music, so to speak, shouldn't prevent us from seeing the beauty of their uniquely-choreographed dance.

his problem was extremely painful and using core muscles or abdominals were painful so any movement where their uses were involved was basically mostly a no go. painful to turn over, painful to be on front and use legs to get up, hurtful to hang up high on mom so she supported him with her foot on bottom. he is so improving now. so good to see him doing well and not masking pain..

Rufus's mother is completely different. Than the other one, the way she handles it. She lets meet properly all the time. So there's a complete difference in the mothering of the situation.

How funny 😂 I didn't even see that the first time I watched it, but after seeing your comment I rewound it and saw it the second time 😂 I think one of the strangest things I've learned about Orangutans is that they drink urine,their own and from others!! I know that mom's do that with the babies, but it's a little weird to see others do it on purpose 😅😂

That is a great point Orangatans eat mostly fruit in the wild and here I have seen nuts and veg no fresh fruit

Oraguntans in the wild normally live in the trees and rarely come down to the ground. This zoo habitat is not the best for them. It needs improvement. Thefr needs to be food for foraging up higher.

Hopefully one day they will be safe in the wild but they do climb a lot in their enclosure. 👍

I've seen Jarang had a hernia and a surgery to fix it, but presumably he has something neurological going on as well, right?

The zoo is monitoring him and inversigating to try and find out if he has any neurological issues. 🥰

She's a first time mother and I do think he's disability , She's a first time mother. Maybe she does better the next time. Who knows if his debility was caused by her or something else. That no one knows.
