Even though BYU’s website says this instrument is in Werkmeister III, it’s actually in quarter-comma meantone. You can tell because you get harmonic sevenths when you play B♭ and E♭ seventh chords. It’s a great sound!

I agree with everyone else: the demonstration of the bellows deflating was delightly weird and perfect for Halloween. BTW, to any organ aficionados reading this, there is an equally weird scene in the movie "Carnival of Souls," a low budget horror film from the early 1960s. You can probably find it here on YT.

Charles! Only you would want to explore the comical sounds produced when shutting down and restarting the wind supply (imagine what music John Cage would have scored for such an effect . . . or Hans Zimmer heading out, lost in space, with dwindling oxygen supplies!). As you remark at the end, this practice organ has plenty of character and will be of benefit when developing your Baroque repertoire articulation (not easy to do with anything other than tracker action!). Werckmeister III is a little 'easier' on the ears, though not as spicy, as Meantone temperament. Werckmeister tuning is seen as being particularly suited for playing chromatic music, which has led to its popularity as an appropriate tuning for Bach's music. Bravo - and practise hard, as I am looking forward to hearing you play some JSB on this instrument in due course!
