This is the BEST counter-balancing advice to "Find a dark background." I've seen many compositions thrown off by highlights that sit near the edges. After seeing this, everything makes more sense. Thanks Pi!

such a cool tutorial... was you intent to keep the background blown out so you wouldn't see the hotel ? My understanding was to expose for ambient lite and then use HHS .. Is this wrong to do it this way.

Great technique pie. Love the way you make things easy. I would like to know if the couple was lit naturally in the first picture, as the beautiful light which is coming from the left seems natural sunlight bounced.

I don‘t understand why the faces of the couple aren‘t much darker in front of the bright sky.
@tysonp52453 жыл бұрын
I assume it's b/c he exposed for them & let the sky be blown out. That way the file will retain some of the blown out background, but huge amounts of info on their faces.

What metering mode do you use when you put the subjects in the brightest area?
@stephengatley81443 жыл бұрын
On a shoot like this you would use the Manual setting & check the Histogram for exposure (Mirrorless). On DSLR switch over to live view hold the framing & check the Histogram. Hope it helps!...

When using Capture One I invert a mask with a luminance curve and you can pinpoint exactly where your bright points are and can’t tell if flash is added.

I’m going to ask a dumb question. Is this Lightroom classic or just Lightroom? I started out in photography taking photos on my iPhone and using Lightroom mobile to edit. So when I moved from the phone to my laptop I downloaded Lightroom but not the classic version and I’ve noticed everyone else’s Lightroom seems to look different than mine. I’ve made sure I’ve updated both anytime it’s available but even then I still can’t find the new masking tools. Any suggestions on which one I should be using? Lightroom or Lightroom classic

That's a great tip, Pye. I think the leading lines in the wedding shot also helped you out in directing the viewer's focus even more: the vertical line of the tree trunk, the line at the top of the bushes flowing towards the couple.

On your 1st shot why were you at iso 400 and shutter speed 1/1000 ?? Why not keeping iso minimum and decreasing shutter speed ?? QUESTION OUT OF CURIOSITY. ANYONE CAN REPLY !
