A suggestion for Sam in reference to viewer questions - Karl Taylor Education (also UK) uses a small light on the table for Emma (the person who does what Sam is doing). When there's a question, Emma simply turns on the small light so Karl can easily see anytime there are questions. When the question has been addressed, she merely turns off the light. Works flawlessly on his You Tube videos. You could try it.

So im going to jump forward and to change your bkgrd, key shift your lights. Do you always shoot at your highest flash sync? I have been shooting since the early 80s. Feathering my lights and using angeling of my rectangle soft box for better light control, much like barndoors, based on HS or 3/4 pose to control shadow fall off on subject. Many need to watch your videos, as they will learn how to control what their outcome will be. Key to your explination is the key shifting of you lights, additive or subtractive lighting creating the shift in ratio. Lastly, you use a meter, and so many just use the camera. Love it. Can you use the light, vert bare bulb?

Great session as usual Gavin. Thank you. Any recommendations for colour gels for the AD200 with a bare bulb? Be great to get really soft fall-off but in colour. I know Flashgun do some but they seem pretty expensive.

Very informative. New to this photo gig thing. I got some coloured cellophane out and wrapped it around a speedlight to play with behind my models, resin statues of a jack russell and a pair of parrots. Now to look for a light stranger.

Hi Gavin, you don’t seem to be a fan of flash overexposure, up to + 1IL1/3 for example, in the studio. You transcribe exactly the same parameters that you choose on your Olympus, on your flashmeter. Why this choice (I often find your model underexposed, for my taste...)? Thank you for your answer and congratulations again for your videos well explained and pleasant to watch.
